Altering Boundaries of Waikohu and Uawa Counties.

A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS it is provided by subsection two of section three of the Counties Amendment Act, 1913, that the boundaries of any one or more counties may be altered in accordance with a resolution proposing the alteration passed by the Council of each of such counties in which the principal Act is in force:

And whereas a resolution was passed by the Waikohu County Council on the eleventh day of June, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, and sealed with the seal of the Council of the said county on the eleventh day of June, one thousand nine hundred and twenty:

And whereas a similar resolution was passed by the Uawa County Council on the seventh day of August, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, and sealed with the seal of the said county on the seventh day of August, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, praying for the alteration of the boundaries of such counties in the manner described in the said resolutions and in the First Schedule hereto:

And whereas it is expedient to make such alteration in accordance with the said resolutions:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on me by the said Act, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the area described in the First Schedule hereto, being now part of the Uawa County, shall, as from the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one, be deemed to be added to and form part of the Waikohu County; and, with the like power and authority, do proclaim and declare that the boundaries of the Counties of Waikohu and Uawa respectively shall, as from the aforesaid date, be those set forth under their respective headings in the Second Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

AREA TO BE ADDED TO WAIKOHU COUNTY.

ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, being that portion of Small Grazing-run 42 lying within the boundaries of the Uawa County as described in the Uawa County Act, 1918.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF WAIKOHU COUNTY.

ALL that area in the Auckland and Hawke’s Bay Land Districts bounded by a line commencing at the Maungapohatu Trig. Station, and proceeding thence north-easterly along a direct line to Maungatapere Trig. Station to its intersection with the western boundary of Tahora Block; thence northerly along that boundary to a point in line with the northern boundary of Small Grazing-run 89; thence to and along that boundary, the northern boundaries of Small Grazing-run 90, Sections 2 and 3, Block XII, Moanui Survey District, Sections 4, 1, and 2, Block IX, Motu Survey District, and Section 2, Block V, Motu Survey District, to Pokaikiri Trig. Station; thence along a right line to Trig. Station 149A, and along the northern boundary of Motu No. 1 Block, down the middle of the Whakapaupakihi Stream and the middle of the Motu River to a point in line with Trig. Stations 140 and 139; thence along a right line through said Station 140 to said Station 139, and along a right line to Trig. Station Arowhana; thence along a right line in the direction of Kapua Trig. Station to its intersection with the western boundary of Huiarua No. 3 Block; thence along that western boundary and the southern boundary of that block to the Uawa County; thence along the north-western boundary of the said Uawa County as hereinbefore described to the Cook County; thence along the north-western boundary of the said Cook County as described in the New Zealand Gazette, 1919, page 1243, to the north-eastern corner of Section 1, Block VIII, Tuahu Survey District; thence along the northern boundary of that section, across the Mangatahae Stream, along the eastern boundary of Lot 21 of Tahora 2f Section 2 Block, the eastern and northern boundaries of Lot 24 of Tahora 2c 1 Section 3 Block, the northern boundary of Lot 23 same block, the northern and western boundaries of Lot 18 of Tahora 2f Section 2 Block, and the production of the last-named boundary to its intersection with a right line between Puketapu Trig. Station and Maungapohatu Trig. Station; and thence by that right line to Maungapohatu Trig. Station, the point of commencement.

BOUNDARIES OF UAWA COUNTY.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District bounded towards the north generally by the Anaura Block from the sea at a point called Koangaumu to the Hikuwai River; thence by that river to the south-eastern corner of Tauwhareparae No. 1 Block; thence by the last-mentioned block and Tauwhareparae No. 3 Block to the south-western corner of the latter block; thence by the western boundary of the said Tauwhareparae No. 3 Block for a distance of 12800 links; thence by a line running due west, 12000 links, to Trig. Station 171, Puakato; thence by a line bearing 262°, distance 12400 links; bearing 173° 15′, distance 8700 links; bearing 210° 30′, distance 5200 links., to Rimututahi Trig. Station; thence by lines bearing 314°, distance 1400 links; bearing 328°, distance 1100 links; bearing 294° 30′, distance 2800 links; bearing 349° 41′, distance 5669 links;
