Notice to Mariners.—No. 54 of 1920.

THE following Notices to Mariners, which have been received from the Hydrographic Office, London, and the Hydrographic Office, Washington, are published for general information.

ENGLAND.
EAST COAST.—RIVER THAMES ENTRANCE.—BARROW DEEP.—BUOYS ESTABLISHED.
(1.) Position.—In the swatchway between Barrow Deep and Black Deep, at a distance of 3 miles and 6½ cables, 349°, from North Shingles beacon. Lat. 51° 35½′ N., long. 1° 14¼′ E.
Description.—A conical buoy painted in green and yellow vertical stripes and marked “T.H. No. 1.”
(2.) Position.—In the swatchway between Barrow Deep and the West Swin, at a distance of 2 miles and 9 cables, 73°, from Maplin Lighthouse. Lat. 51° 35¾′ N., long. 1° 8½′ E.
Description.—A conical buoy painted in green and yellow vertical stripes and marked “T.H. No. 2.”
Remarks.—The above buoys are solely for the use of Trinity House vessels, and are not to be used for purposes of navigation.
WASHINGTON.
GRAYS HARBOUR.—SOUTH BAY.—LIGHT TO BE DISCONTINUED.
About 30th June, 1920, South Bay light, Grays Harbour, will be permanently discontinued.
BRAZIL.
NORTH-EAST COAST.
(1.) Balique Island Light.—Alteration in Characteristics.
Position.—Near the middle of the island. Lat. 1° N., long. 49° 55′ W.
New Abridged Description.—Lt. F. fl., ev. 30 secs., 52 ft., vis. 13 m.
Details.—The flashing white light has been replaced by a light having the undermentioned characteristics :—
Character.—Fixed and flashing white light every thirty seconds.
Elevation.—52 ft.
(2.) Cape Gurupi Light.—Alteration in Characteristics.
Position.—Lat. 0° 54′ S., long. 46° 14′ W.
New Abridged Description.—Lt. F. fl., ev. 20 secs., 113 ft., vis. 16 m.
Details.—The flashing white light has been replaced by a light having the undermentioned characteristics :—
Character.—Fixed and flashing white every twenty seconds.
Elevation.—113 ft.
Structure.—White cylindrical iron tower.
(3.) Itacolomi Light.—Alteration in Characteristics.
Position.—Lat. 2° 10¼′ S., long. 44° 24¾′ W.
New Abridged Description.—Lt. fl., ev. 20 secs., 150 ft., vis. 18 m.
Details.—The fixed and flashing white light has been replaced by a light having the undermentioned characteristics :—
Character.—Flashing every twenty seconds.
Elevation.—150 ft.
(4.) Point San Marcos Light.—Alteration in Characteristics.
Position.—Lat. 2° 29¼′ S., long. 44° 17′ W.
New Abridged Description.—Lt. F., gp. fl. (4), ev. 10 secs., 111 ft., vis. 16 m.
Details.—The group flashing white light has been replaced by a light having the undermentioned characteristics :—
Character.—Fixed and group flashing white, showing four flashes every ten seconds.
Elevation.—111 ft.
EAST COAST.
(1.) Ponta Mocoripe (Mucuripe) Light.—Alteration in Characteristics.
Position.—Lat. 3° 42′ S., long. 38° 27¼′ W.
New Abridged Description.—Lt. F. fl., ev. 10 secs., 106 ft., vis. 16 m.
Details.—The flashing white light has been replaced by a light having the undermentioned characteristics :—
Character.—Fixed and flashing white every ten seconds.
Elevation.—106 ft.
Visibility.—16 miles.
(2.) Ponta do Mel Light.—Alteration in Characteristics.
Position.—Lat. 4° 57¼′ S., long. 36° 53¼′ W.
New Abridged Description.—Lt. fl., ev. 30 secs., 323 ft., vis. 24 m.
Details.—The fixed and flashing white light has been replaced by a light having the undermentioned characteristics :—
Character.—Flashing white every thirty seconds.
Elevation.—323 ft.
Visibility.—24 miles.
(3.) Garcia d’Avila Light.—Alteration in Characteristics.
Position.—On Acu das Torres Point. Lat. 12° 34′ S., long. 37° 59¾′ W.
New Abridged Description.—Lt. alt. F. fl., W.R., ev. 5 secs., 70 ft., vis. 15 m.
Details.—The alternating flashing white and red light has been replaced by a light having the undermentioned characteristics :—
Character.—Alternating fixed and flashing white and red every five seconds.
Elevation.—70 ft.
Visibility.—15 miles.
(4.) Abrolhos Rocks Light.—Alteration in Period.
Position.—Lat. 17° 57¾′ S., long. 38° 42′ W.
New Abridged Description.—Lt. fl., ev. 30 secs., 193 ft., vis. 20 m.
Alteration.—The period of this flashing white light has been altered from twenty-five seconds to every thirty seconds.
Remarks.—The elevation of the light is 193 ft. In other respects the light is unaltered.
SOUTH-EAST COAST.—PROVINCE OF SAO PAULO.
(1.) Boi Point Light.—Alteration in Characteristics.
Position.—Near the southern extremity of Sao Sebastao Island. Lat. 23° 58¼′ S., long. 45° 14½′ W.
New Abridged Description.—Lt. F. fl., ev. 10 secs., 359 ft., vis. 20 m.
Details.—The flashing white light has been replaced by a light having the undermentioned characteristics :—
Character.—Fixed and flashing every ten seconds.
Elevation.—359 ft.
Remarks.—The other characteristics of the light remain unchanged.
(2.) Alcatrazes Islands Light.—Alteration in Period.
Position.—On Porto Island. Lat. 24° 6′ S., long. 45° 40½′ W.
New Abridged Description.—Lt. fl., ev. 5 secs., vis. 15 m. (U).
Alteration.—The period of this flashing white light has been altered from six seconds to five seconds.
Remarks.—The light is unwatched.
Declaring Town Acres 1050 and 1067, City of Wellington, to be vested in His Majesty, in pursuance of Section 31 of the Valuation of Land Act, 1908.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 20th day of September, 1920.
Present :
HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section thirty-one of the Valuation of Land Act, 1908, it is provided that if the owner of any land (other than the owner of a leasehold interest therein) is not satisfied with the value of such land as fixed by the Assessment Court, he may, within fourteen days after the hearing by the Assessment Court, give notice to the Valuer-General that he requires the capital value to be reduced to the amount specified in the notice, or the land to be acquired on behalf of His Majesty at the sum specified in the notice :
And whereas it is further provided by the said section thirty-one that the Valuer-General may either reduce the capital value or may refer the matter to the Governor-General in Council, and that if the Governor-General in Council approves of the acquisition of the land at the sum specified in the said notice, then the Governor-General may, by Order in Council gazetted, declare the land to be vested in His Majesty :
And whereas the owner of the fee-simple of the property described in the Schedule hereto gave notice to the Valuer-General in terms of and within the time specified by section thirty-one of the Valuation of Land Act, 1908, that he required the capital value of the said properties to be reduced to the sum of two thousand pounds, or the land to be acquired on behalf of His Majesty at that sum :
And whereas the Valuer-General has referred the matter to the Administrator of the Government in Council :
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by section thirty-one of the Valuation of Land Act, 1908, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Administrator of the Government
