Government of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the amendments herein-after set out in the rules of the Native Land Court dated the twenty-fourth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen, and gazetted on the twenty-seventh day of August, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen, under the Native Land Act, 1909, and its amendments; and doth hereby declare that such amendments shall take effect on the first day of October, one thousand nine hundred and twenty.

AMENDMENTS TO RULES OF COURT.

  1. RULE 1 is hereby amended by omitting the words “‘Gazetted’ means published in the Gazette and Kahiti.”

  2. Rule 11 is hereby amended by omitting all the words after the word “Kahiti.”

  3. Rule 12 is hereby amended by omitting the words “and also if the Registrar or a Judge so directs in the Gazette.”

  4. Rule 13 is hereby amended by omitting the words “and also if he thinks fit in the Gazette.”

  5. Rules 49, 70, 97, 99, 133, 151, 152, and 154 are hereby respectively amended by omitting the word “gazetted,” and substituting in lieu thereof the words “published in the Kahiti.”

  6. Rule 79 is hereby amended by omitting the word “gazetted,” and substituting in lieu thereof the word “appointed.”

  7. The Second Schedule to the said rules is hereby revoked, and the Schedule set out hereunder is hereby substituted in lieu thereof.

WITNESSES’ EXPENSES.

Female witnesses to be paid the same allowances as male witnesses of the same rank.
For witnesses residing beyond three miles from the Court, their fares by coach, railway, steamer, or other public conveyance will be allowed. By railway or steamer second-class fares only will be allowed for labourers, journeymen, and artisans. Where there is no conveyance witnesses will be allowed a mileage rate not exceeding 9d. per mile one way.
There will also be allowed 4s. for each night witnesses are necessarily detained from their own homes.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the Native Land Act, 1909, and its amendments, His Excellency the Administrator of the Government of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the amendments herein-after set out in the regulations relating to Maori Land Boards dated the twenty-fourth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen, and gazetted on the twenty-seventh day of August, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen, under the Native Land Act, 1909, and its amendments; and doth hereby declare that such amendments shall take effect on the first day of October, one thousand nine hundred and twenty.

AMENDMENTS TO REGULATIONS.

  1. REGULATIONS 4 and 6 of the said regulations are hereby respectively amended by omitting the words “Gazette and.”

  2. Regulations 30 and 31 of the said regulations are hereby respectively amended by omitting the words “and Kahiti.”

  3. Regulation 33 of the said regulations is hereby amended by omitting the words “three guineas,” and substituting in lieu thereof the words “four guineas.”

  4. Regulation 52 of the said regulations is hereby amended by omitting the words “Gazette and.”

  5. The First Schedule to the said regulations (fixing the scale of fees) is hereby revoked, and the First Schedule hereunder is hereby substituted in lieu thereof.

  6. Form No. 13 in the Second Schedule to the said regulations is hereby revoked, and the form set out in the Second Schedule hereunder is hereby substituted in lieu thereof.
