Land in the Taranaki Land District for Sale or Lease to
Discharged Soldiers.

District Lands and Survey Office,
New Plymouth, 13th September, 1920.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land
will be offered for sale or lease under the Discharged
Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations there-
under; and applications will be received at the District
Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, up to 11.30 o’clock
a.m. on Saturday, the 23rd day of October, 1920.

The land may be purchased for cash or on deferred pay-
ments, or selected on lease for a term of sixty-six years, with
right of renewal for further successive terms of sixty-six years
and a right to acquire the freehold.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board
for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office,
New Plymouth, on Wednesday, the 27th day of October,
1920, at 10 o’clock a.m.

The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination
of applicants.

SCHEDULE.

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.—CROWN
LAND.

Eltham County.—Ngaire Survey District.

Exempt from Rent for Two Years.

SECTION 16, Block XV: Area, 174 acres 3 roods 16 perches;
capital value, £700; annual instalment on deferred payment
(excluding interest), £35; half-yearly rent on lease, £15 15s.

Situated on the Rotokare Road. Access is from Hawera
(about twelve miles distant) or from Eltham (six miles and a
half distant), being five miles metalled, one mile dray-road,
balance 6 ft. track. Hilly cattle country, with easy slopes
falling away to streams on three sides. Covered with mixed
forest of tawa, rimu, pukatea, miro, &c., with usual under-
scrub.

to Discharged Soldiers.

Blenheim, 14th September, 1920.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands
will be offered for sale or lease under the Discharged
Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations there-
under; and applications will be received at the District
Lands and Survey Office, Blenheim, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on
Monday, the 1st day of November, 1920.

The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred pay-
ments, or selected on lease for a term of thirty-three years,
with right of renewal for further successive terms of thirty-
three years and a right to acquire the freehold.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board
for examination at the Drill Hall, Kaikoura, on Thursday,
the 4th day of November, 1920, at 10 o’clock a.m.

The ballot will be held at the Drill Hall, Kaikoura, at the
conclusion of the examination of applicants.

IMPROVEMENTS.

The improvements which go with the land are as follows:
Section 1, fencing valued at £400; Section 2, fencing valued
at £220; Section 3, fencing and small plantation valued at
£440; Section 4, fencing valued at £100.

NOTE.

Each applicant will require to produce evidence that he
is the possessor of £750 capital, otherwise he will not be
admitted to the ballot.

DESCRIPTION OF SECTIONS.

Sections 1, 2, and 3 front the main south Waiau–Kaikoura
Road, and comprise very good tussock country which has been
surface sown, and also contains good ploughed and plough-
able areas. Each section has a good homestead-site, and is
well watered by permanent streams.

Section 4.—In the northern portion there are patches of
manuka scrub, and the country is much broken with gorgy
creeks and terraces. On its southern portion the area is
practically all flat, in tussock and native grass, the soil vary-
ing from poor to fair, the major portion ploughable. Access
to this section is by means of an unformed road, about half a
mile from, and connecting with, the Stag and Spay Road.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION.

Goat Hills Settlement is situate about twenty-five miles
from Kaikoura, the nearest port, and about the same distance
from Waiau Railway-station. All good sheep-country, the
block having in the past carried nearly one sheep to the acre.
Altitude ranges from 900 ft. to 2,000 ft.

DESCRIPTION.

The block is about half a mile from Waikumete Station,
