Minister’s Decisions under Customs Duties Act.

Customs Department, Wellington, 8th September, 1920.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Hon. the Minister of Customs has decided to interpret the Customs Duties Act in relation to the undermentioned articles as follows:—

NOTE.—“Not otherwise enumerated” appears as n.o.e.; “other kinds” as o.k.; “articles and materials suited only for, and to be used solely in, the fabrication of goods in the Dominion” as a. & m.s. Articles marked thus † are revised decisions.

11/14/2 A. and m.s., viz. :— Brake-lining for brakes of motor-cars, composed of fabric lining with cork discs inserted therein As a. and m.s. (482) Free.
5/98/3 Eyes, artificial, for the manufacture of dolls, animal toys, necklets, and similar articles
3/84/2 “Holdu Supports,” of metal, for strengthening the waists of shoes and keeping the heels in position
15/67 Wood blocks, roughly sawn into shape, with hole down the centre, for the manufacture of artificial limbs
2/116/2 Artificers’ tools, n.o.e., viz. :— Glass-silvering table, with slate top, also coil and valves for heating same As artificers’ tools n.o.e. (359) Free.
6/78/2 Cups—viz., paraffined paper drinking-cups As paper cut or shaped for boxes, wrappers, or other receptacles (150) 25 per cent.

6/125 Ink—viz., “Kodak white ink,” for writing permanent inscriptions on lantern-slides, mounts, &c. As writing-ink (143) 2s. the gallon
7/116/3 Insecticides for agricultural uses, viz. :— “Cow Ease,” a dressing for keeping flies off cattle As insecticides for agricultural uses (275) Free.
20/68/2 “Menda-Tear” outfits, consisting of strips of prepared textile and rubber tissue, for mending clothing As n.o.e. (483) Free.

4/10/14 “Rencrete,” a liquid solution for colouring and waterproofing concrete, cement, or plaster surfaces
12/1/4 Surgical appliances, viz. :— Arch supports for the feet (George’s anterior metatarsal) As surgical appliances (279) Free.
12/1/4 Corn and bunion shields, of chamois leather and oiled silk
