Tuatamoe Riding.

Commencing at the south-western corner of Section 22, Block XVI, Waoku, and bounded towards the north generally by the Hokianga and Bay of Islands County boundaries as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 63, of the 1st May, 1918, page 1686, to the junction of the last-named county boundary hereinbefore mentioned; thence towards the east generally by the said Whangarei County boundary and part of the Tangowahine Riding hereinbefore described to the Waipoua Riding also hereinbefore described; thence towards the south and west generally by the last-named riding and the before-mentioned Hokianga County boundary to the point of commencement.

Waipoua Riding.

Commencing at the mouth of the Waipoua River, and bounded towards the north generally by the centre of said river to the western boundary of Block VIII, Waipoua Survey District ; thence towards the east generally by the said block boundary to the centre of a public road, by the centre of said public road to a point which would intersect the production of the northern boundary of Section 25, Block VIII aforesaid, by a right line to the said boundary of that section; thence by an area of Crown land in Block VIII aforesaid, by Sections 25 and 26, Block XI aforesaid, to the Waima River, by said river to the north-western boundary of an area of Crown land in Block XIII, Tutamoe Survey District, by a right line across said river to the north-western boundary of Section 1, Block XIII aforesaid, by said section and Sections 1 and 9, Block IX aforesaid, by Sections 8 and 7, Block X aforesaid, and an area of Crown land in the last-mentioned block, to the western boundary of the Tangowahine Riding; thence towards the east and south generally by the Tangowahine and Kaihu Ridings, both hereinbefore described, to the sea; thence towards the west generally by the sea to the point of commencement.

Special Order made by the Thames County Council altering Ridings and adjusting Representation.

THE following special order, made by the Thames County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Act, 1908.

THAMES COUNTY COUNCIL.

Alteration in Ridings.

THE following resolutions were passed by the Thames County Council at a special meeting held on the 2nd day of June, 1920, and confirmed on the 7th day of July, 1920.

In exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Counties Act, 1908, the Thames County Council resolves by way of special order as follows:—

  1. The present division of the county into seven ridings is revoked, and in lieu thereof the said county shall be divided into five ridings, to be called respectively Hikutaia Riding, Puriri Riding, Totara Riding, Tairua Riding, and Hastings Riding, which said ridings are respectively described in the Schedule hereto.

  2. The said Thames County Council shall consist of eight members, who shall be elected as follows:—

(a.) The electors of Hikutaia, Puriri, and Totara Ridings shall each elect two Councillors.

(b.) The electors of Tairua and Hastings Ridings shall each elect one Councillor.

  1. The alteration hereby made shall take effect on and after the gazetting of the resolutions.

SCHEDULE.

Hastings Riding.

Bounded, commencing at the mouth of Waikawau Stream, thence by the boundary of the Coromandel County to the eastern boundary of Block VII, Whitianga Survey District; thence by the eastern boundary of Blocks VII and XI of the said survey district to the Hikuwai Stream; thence by the said Hikuwai Stream and the dividing range to its intersection with the south boundary of Block XI, Whitianga Survey District; thence by the southern boundaries of Block XI, Whitianga Survey District, and Blocks XVI and XV, Hastings Survey District, the eastern boundary of Block I, Thames Survey District, the south boundary of Block I of the said survey district to the Tararu Stream; thence by the Tararu Stream to the boundary of the Borough of Thames; thence by the northern boundary of the Borough of Thames to the Firth of Thames, and by the Firth of Thames to the place of commencement.

Totara Riding.

Bounded, commencing at the junction of the Thames Borough boundary with the Tararu Stream; thence by the southern boundary of the Hastings Riding; thence south by the main dividing range through Blocks I, V, and IX, Tairua Survey District, to its junction with the Puriri-Neavesville Road; thence by the centre of the said Puriri-Neavesville Road to the south boundary of H.P.L. 86; thence by the southern boundary of Ipuwhakatara Block; thence along the north bank of the Matatoki Stream to the Thames to Paeroa Road; thence along the centre of the said Thames to Paeroa Road to its junction with the Matatoki Road; thence by the centre-line of the Matatoki Road to the Waihou River; thence by the right bank of the Waihou River and the foreshore of the Firth of Thames to the Kauaeranga River; thence by the middle-line of the Kauaeranga River to the most eastern point of the Borough of Thames; thence by the eastern boundary generally of the Borough of Thames to the point of commencement.

Puriri Riding.

Bounded, commencing at a point at centre of Waihou River, the intersection of the centre of the Matatoki Road, produced thence by a right line to and by the south-eastern boundary of Totara Riding to the south eastern corner of Taparahi No. 2B Block; thence by main dividing range to the head of Omahu Stream; thence by that stream and to the middle-line of the Waihou River; thence by the middle-line of that river to the point of commencement.

Hikutaia Riding.

Bounded, commencing at a point at centre of Waihou River at the south-west corner of Puriri Riding (opposite the Ohinemuri County to the centre of Waihou River, thence by middle-line of that river to the point of commencement.

Tairua Riding.

Bounded, commencing at Coromandel County boundary at Tairua Harbour, thence by the sea to boundary of Ohinemuri County, thence by that boundary to eastern boundary of Hikutaia Riding, thence by that riding, Puriri Riding, Totara Riding, and Hastings Riding to the Coromandel County boundary, and by that boundary to the point of commencement.

THE following resolutions were passed by the Thames County Council at a special meeting of the Council held on the 2nd day of June, 1920, and duly confirmed on the 7th day of July, 1920:—

In exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 60 of the Counties Act, 1908, the Thames County Council resolves by way of special order as follows,—

  1. In lieu of six members the said Thames County Council shall consist of eight members, who shall be elected as follows : The electors of Hikutaia, Puriri, and Totara Ridings shall each elect two Councillors; the electors of Tairua and Hastings Ridings shall each elect one Councillor.

  2. The alteration hereby made in the number of members in the said Council shall take effect at the general election of
