Scheme of Control of the New Plymouth High Schools.
Education Department,
Wellington, 30th August, 1920.
IN accordance with the provisions of the Education Act, 1914, and with the powers thereunder, I, Christopher James Parr, Minister of Education, do hereby, on the advice of the General Council of Education, approve of the following amendment to the scheme of control for the New Plymouth High Schools as published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 10th July, 1915:—
Subclause 6 (3) thereof is hereby deleted, and the following substituted therefor,—
- (3.) The fees to be charged to pupils attending the secondary department who are not holders of scholarships or free places shall be £9 per annum, subject to a rebate of 10s. on each proportional one-third part of such fees on payment within one month from the date of the commencement of each term. The fees to be charged to pupils attending the lower department shall be £12 per annum, subject to a rebate of 10s. on each proportional one-third part of such fees on payment within one month from the date of the commencement of each term.

Notice Fixing the Closing-hours of Butchers’ Shops (other than Pork-butcher) in the Borough of Gisborne, under the Shops and Offices Act, 1908.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the butchers’ shops (other than pork-butcher) in the Borough of Gisborne, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 5 p.m., with the following exceptions:—
(1.) When any day is generally observed as a holiday in the district, any shop that is closed at not later than 1 o’clock on that day and that is usually closed for the statutory half-holiday on another day of the week may remain open on the latter day until 5 p.m.; and
(2.) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe (pursuant to section 11 (2) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908) Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case the closing-hour on Thursday for any such shop shall be 5 p.m.:
And whereas the Gisborne Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the butchers’ shops (other than pork-butcher) within the Borough of Gisborne:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 13th day of September, 1920, all the butchers’ shops (other than pork-butcher) within the Borough of Gisborne shall be closed accordingly.
The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 9th August, 1917, fixing the closing-hours of all butchers’ shops (other than pork-butcher) in the Borough of Gisborne is cancelled as from the date of coming into operation of this notice.

NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to an application in that behalf made to me by the Auckland City Tramway Officers, Engineers, Gangers, and Clerical Staff Employees’ Industrial Union of Workers, registered number 1103, situated at Auckland, and in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by section 21 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1908, it is my intention to cancel the registration of that industrial union after the expiration of six weeks from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette, unless in the meantime cause is shown to the contrary.
