That, for the purpose of section one hundred and twenty-seven of the Land Act, 1908, the said land shall be deemed to be “heavy-bush land”:

That after the first half-year’s rent has been paid by the selector, the further instalments of rent payable by him for a period of four years shall not be demanded; provided that if at any time during the first five years of his occupancy the selector disposes of his interest in the land, the rent so conceded shall be paid by him in full, and thereupon the Land Board may remit such instalments of rent payable by the incoming tenant, not exceeding in the aggregate the amount of rent previously conceded to the selector, as the Board thinks fit.

SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Wanganui County.—Ngamatea Survey District.

Exempt from Rent for Four Years.

SECTIONS 1, 2, 3, and 4, Block XI: Area, 898 acres 2 roods; capital value, £2,700; half-yearly rent, £108.

Good healthy pastoral land, comprising part of the Taonui and Parapara Blocks. Situated between the Mangawhero and Wangaehu Rivers, about forty-one miles from Wanganui via Kakatahi; thirty-five miles metalled dray-road, six miles formed road, not metalled. Hilly land, steep on road frontage, practically all in native bush. Good soil, on clay and papa formation. Forest medium to heavy; consists of tawa, hinau, &c., with some ratas and pines and the usual undergrowth.

Indifferently watered on road frontage, and well watered at back by running stream and springs.

NOTE.—Some fencing has been erected by adjoining owners, and incoming lessees will be liable for half value thereof.

The eastern boundary of the land is subject to alteration in order to provide a better fencing-line.

Warrant authorizing the Featherston County Council to construct Seven Bridges on the Rimutaka Hill Road and also to improve the Rimutaka Hill Road, and apportioning the Cost.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1908, and all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, Robert Stout, the Administrator of the Government of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby authorize the Featherston County Council to construct the seven bridges on the Rimutaka Hill Road and also to improve the Rimutaka Hill Road, such road and bridges being more particularly described in the Schedule hereto; and I do hereby declare that the cost thereof, less such contribution (if any) as may be made thereto by the Government of New Zealand, shall be borne by the Featherston County Council, the Wairarapa South County Council, the Masterton County Council, the Masterton Borough Council, the Carterton Borough Council, the Featherston Borough Council, the Greytown Borough Council, the Martinborough Town Board, and the Castlepoint County Council in the following proportions—namely, the Featherston County Council shall pay fifty-three per cent. of such cost, the Wairarapa South County Council shall pay fifteen per cent. of such cost, the Masterton County Council shall pay eleven per cent. of such cost, the Masterton Borough Council shall pay nine per cent. of such cost, the Carterton Borough Council shall pay three per cent. of such cost, the Featherston Borough Council shall pay three per cent. of such cost, the Greytown Borough Council shall pay two and a half per cent. of such cost, the Martinborough Town Board shall pay two per cent. of such cost, and the Castlepoint County Council shall pay one and a half per cent. of such cost respectively.

And I do hereby further direct that any contributions hereby required to be made as aforesaid by the Wairarapa South County Council, the Masterton County Council, the Masterton Borough Council, the Carterton Borough Council, the Featherston Borough Council, the Greytown Borough Council, the Martinborough Town Board, and the Castlepoint County Council shall be paid from time to time, in the proportions hereinbefore prescribed, out of the funds of the said Councils and Town Board within a period of one month after demand in writing made by or on behalf of the Featherston County Council, and all such payments shall be made from time to time to the Clerk of the Featherston County Council for and on behalf of the said Councils and Town Board.

SCHEDULE.

ALL those seven bridges situated on the Rimutaka Hill Road, and also all that portion of the Rimutaka Hill Road situated between the boundaries of the Featherston Borough and the Hutt County. As the sites of the said bridges and the said portion of road are more particularly delineated on the plans marked P.W.D. 48567 and 48568 respectively, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, this 26th day of August, 1920.
