1920, on the proposal of the Auckland City Council to borrow the sum of £20,000 for improvements to the Auckland Domain, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 444, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 862. I therefore declare the proposal to be lost.

THE following notices, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Hokianga, are published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

HOKIANGA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Results of Proposals to raise Loans.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the Taheke Riding was taken on the 16th day of August, 1919, on the proposal of the Hokianga County Council to borrow the sum of £6,700 for re-forming and metalling the main roads.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 29, and the number against was nil.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the Omāpere Riding was taken on Saturday, the 24th day of July, 1920, on the proposal of the Hokianga County Council to borrow the sum of £22,000, for

(a.) To merge existing loans;

(b.) The purchase of machinery for the purpose of road-making;

(c.) The re-forming and metalling of the roads in the Omāpere Riding.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 84, and the number against was 10.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.—Joint Special Loan under Part II.

NOTICE is hereby given that each of the local authorities named in the Schedule hereunder (1) has taken all the steps required to be taken under the above-named Act prior to the raising of a special loan of the amount set opposite the name of such local authority in the said Schedule, and (2) has passed a resolution as required by Part II of the above-named Act for the raising of a joint special loan of the amount of £3,000 in union with the other said local authority, and (3) has complied with all other conditions prescribed in the case of a joint special loan by the above-mentioned Act, and (4) has named the Masterton County Council to be the agent of the other said local authority for the purposes of the joint special loan and to be the principal local authority as defined in Part II of the said Act.

Defining Wellington Extended-river Limits for Tugs.

WHEREAS by Warrant dated the 29th day of September, 1908, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 74, of the 1st day of the following month, the Minister of Marine defined the Wellington restricted limits within which extended-river tugs propelled by steam, gas, oil, fluid, electricity, or any mechanical power other than steam may ply to be inside a right line drawn from the outermost point of Taurakirae Head to the outermost point of Sinclair Head:

And whereas it is desirable to revoke the said warrant of the 29th day of September, 1908:

Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Minister of Marine, do hereby revoke the said Warrant of the 29th day of September, 1908, and, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 189 of the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, do hereby define the Wellington restricted limits within which extended-river tugs propelled by steam, gas, oil, fluid, electricity, or any mechanical power other than steam may ply to be inside a radius of ten miles from Pencarrow Head, provided any vessel employed in the said limits is manned as a home-trade ship so far as regards the master and chief engineer, and is partially equipped as a home-trade ship to the satisfaction of a Surveyor of Ships.

As witness my hand at Wellington, this 18th day of August, 1920.

Plant declared to be a Noxious Weed by the Castlepoint County Council.—Notice No. 2027.
