Trustees for the Pukeatua Public Cemetery appointed.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the fourth section of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, I, Robert Stout, the Administrator of the Government of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint the several persons whose names are specified in Part I of the Schedule hereto to have the control and management of the public cemetery specified in Part II of the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

Part I.—Names of Trustees.

JAMES MAGILL.

Part II.—Name of Cemetery and Description of Land.

PUKEATUA.

ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District, situate in the Pukeatua Parish, numbered 370, and containing by admeasurement 2 acres 2 roods 22 perches. Bounded towards the north and east by a public road, 575·3, 393·8, and 307·7 links; and towards the south and west by Section 286 of the parish before mentioned, 722·6 and 361·4 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 2/382, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and bordered red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, this 23rd day of July, 1920.

Appointing a Member of the Timaru Harbour Board.

WHEREAS it is provided by the eleventh section of the Harbours Amendment Act, 1910, that if any constituent district or combined district fails at any election to elect the required number of representatives the Governor-General may, by Warrant under his hand, appoint such qualified persons as he thinks fit to be the representatives of that district in lieu of those who ought to have been elected; and the persons so appointed shall hold office in all respects as if they had been duly elected in conformity with the said Act:

And whereas one member of the Timaru Harbour Board should have been elected by the electors of the Otaio Riding of the Waimate County and the electors of that part of the Pareora Riding of the same county within the Timaru Harbour District: And whereas the said electors have failed to elect the said member:

Now, therefore, the Administrator of the Government of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the hereinbefore-recited power and authority, doth hereby appoint

HARRY BELL SPEARMAN JOHNSTONE

as the representative of the electors of the Otaio Riding of the Waimate County and the electors of that part of the Pareora Riding of the same county within the Timaru Harbour District, to be a member of the Timaru Harbour Board, to fill the vacancy caused by the before-mentioned failure to elect.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, this 22nd day of July, 1920.

Warrant vesting Control of the Retreat Road Bridge over the Avon River in the Christchurch City Council, and apportioning the Cost of Maintaining, Repairing, Improving, or Reconstructing the same.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, Robert Stout, the Administrator of the Government of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby direct that the bridge known as the Retreat Road Bridge over the Avon River (as more particularly described in the Schedule hereto) shall, from and after the date of the gazetting hereof, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of the Christchurch City Council; and I do hereby fix and determine that the cost of maintaining, repairing, improving, or reconstructing the said bridge shall be borne by the Christchurch City Council.

SCHEDULE.

THAT bridge on the Retreat Road over the Avon River, situated in the Canterbury Land District, known as the Retreat Road Bridge. As the site of the said bridge is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 48529, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, this 24th day of July, 1920.

Warrant vesting the Control of the Dallington Bridge over the Avon River in the Christchurch City Council, and apportioning the Cost of Maintaining, Repairing, Improving, or Reconstructing the same.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I Robert Stout, the Administrator of the Government of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby direct that the bridge known as the Dallington Bridge over the Avon River (as more particularly described in the Schedule hereto) shall, on and after the date of the gazetting hereof, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of the Christchurch City Council; and I do hereby fix and determine that the cost of maintaining, repairing, improving, or reconstructing the said bridge shall be borne by the Christchurch City Council and the Waimairi County Council in the following proportions—viz., the Christchurch City Council shall bear fifty per cent. of such cost, and the Waimairi County Council shall bear fifty per cent. of such cost, respectively; and I do also further direct that any contribution hereby required to be made as aforesaid by the Waimairi County Council shall be paid from time to time in the proportion hereinbefore prescribed out of the funds of the said county within a period of one month after demand in writing made by or on behalf of the Christchurch City Council, and such payments shall be made from time to time to the Town Clerk, Christchurch, for and on account of the Christchurch City Council.

SCHEDULE.

THAT bridge over the Avon River situated in the Canterbury Land District, known as the Dallington Bridge, connecting Gloucester Street and Gayhurst Street. As the site of the said bridge is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 48529, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Administrator of the Government; this 24th day of July, 1920.

Regulations for the New Zealand Military Forces amended.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authority conferred on me by the Defence Act, 1909, and its amendments, I, Robert Stout, the Administrator of the Government of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby revoke or amend certain regulations made under that Act as described in the Schedule hereto, and do hereby make additional regulations as set out in the said Schedule; and I do hereby declare that such revocations, amendments, and additional regulations shall have effect as from the date of publication thereof in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE.

REGULATIONS FOR THE MILITARY FORCES OF NEW ZEALAND, 1913.

(1.) PARAGRAPH 88 is hereby amended by adding the following subparagraph:—

“88A. Appointments to commissions in the New Zealand Army Pay Corps will be granted, in the rank of Lieutenant (on probation), on the recommendation of the General Officer Commanding.

“Candidates must (a) be student-accountants who have passed the book-keepers’ examination of the Society of Accountants, and (b) have passed the Public Service Entrance Examination.
