The term “inland,” as used above, includes Western Samoa and the islands in the Pacific annexed to New Zealand.

SPECIAL-REQUEST CORRESPONDENCE.

Undelivered printed matter prepaid 1½d. that has been posted in New Zealand and bears a special request for its return to the sender, or is of intrinsic value, will be returned and charged additional postage of 1½d.

Undelivered printed matter prepaid ½d. that has been posted outside New Zealand and, by request, sent to an address in New Zealand other than that to which it was originally addressed will be charged additional postage of 1½d.

PRIVATE LETTER-BOXES.

At places where there is a postman’s delivery—
At the rate of one pound ten shillings (£1 10s.) per annum.

To persons residing beyond the limits of the postman’s delivery, or to persons at places where there is no postman’s delivery—
At the rate of ten shillings (10s.) per annum.

PRIVATE MAIL-BAGS.

(a.) For a private bag carried by a mail contractor for a year ending 31st December, £2 10s.; for a second bag, if the quantity of correspondence requires it, £1 5s.

(b.) For a private bag carried by a mail contractor for a half-year ending 30th June or 31st December, £1 5s.; for a second bag, if the quantity of correspondence requires it, 12s. 6d.

(c.) For a private bag, if delivery is taken at the post-office where it is made up, for a year ending 31st December, £1 10s.

(d.) For a private bag, if delivery is taken at the post-office where it is made up, for a half-year ending 30th June or 31st December, 15s.

(e.) For a private bag carried otherwise than by a mail contractor,—
When the cost of carriage does not exceed the foregoing fees set out in (a), (b), (c), and (d), the foregoing fees as so set out.

When the cost of carriage exceeds the foregoing fees as set out in (a), (b), (c), and (d), £1 10s. per annum plus the actual cost of carriage.

MONEY-ORDERS.

By Post.

Payable in New Zealand .. { 1d. for each £1 or fraction thereof, but with a minimum charge of 6d.

Payable beyond New Zealand, except in } 6d. for each £1 or fraction thereof.
Australia, the United States of America, or
Canada

Payable in the United States of America { 5d. for each 2s. or fraction of 2s.
(including Hawaii and territory of Porto
Rico) and Canada

By Telegraph.

Payable in New Zealand .. { 1d. for each £1 or fraction thereof, but with a minimum charge of 6d., plus a telegraph fee of 1s. 6d. if order is sent by ordinary telegram, or 3s. if it is sent by urgent telegram.

For a private communication for the payee, { 1d. per word if order is sent by ordinary telegram, or 2d. per word if it is sent by urgent telegram.

Payable in the United Kingdom .. { 6d. for each £1 or fraction thereof, plus a telegraph fee at the rate for a telegram to the place upon which the order is drawn.

Sundays and the following public holidays, viz.: Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, and the King’s Birthday:—
Double the rates for week-days.

SAVINGS-BANK TELEGRAMS.

Ordinary .. .. .. 1s.
Urgent .. .. .. 2s.

REGISTRATION OF CODE ADDRESSES.

For cable telegrams .. .. .. £1 per annum or 5s. per month.
For inland telegrams .. .. .. £1 per annum or 5s. per month.

A separate fee must be paid for each registration, irrespective of the fact that the same code-word may be used in both cases.
