the said timber being of less quantity than as stated herein,
or in any advertisement having reference to the said timber.
3. The boundaries of the land containing the timber are
shown approximately on the plan, but should any dispute
arise as to boundaries the decision of the Commissioner of
Crown Lands shall be final.
4. Only the fallen trees are to be taken, and the standing
bush is not to be damaged in any way.
5. Every precaution must be taken by the purchaser to
prevent fires occurring in the bush referred to herein or in
the standing bush adjoining, and the purchaser will be held
liable for any breach of this condition by himself or by his
agents or workmen.
6. Time for removal of timber, one year and a half. Milling
operations to be commenced within two months from date of
acceptance of tender, and thereafter to be continuous.
7. Terms of Payment.—One-tenth to be deposited with
tender, together with £1 1s. license fee. Purchaser will be
required to pay the balance within thirty days, or to give
security by way of promissory notes, each payable on demand,
made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner
of Crown Lands. The promissory notes will be presented at
intervals of three months, but they may be presented for
payment at earlier dates if more than a due proportion of
timber is found to be cut, or if in the opinion of the Com-
missioner of Crown Lands the interests of the Crown are
jeopardized. Interest will be charged at the rate of 5 per
cent.
8. The purchaser shall not put, throw, or place, or allow
to be put, thrown, or placed, into any river, stream, or water-
course, or into any place where it may be washed into any
river, stream, or watercourse, any sawdust or other sawmill
refuse. All branches and other refuse shall be removed from
the land to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown
Lands.
9. Any breach of the within conditions will render any
license issued liable to forfeiture.
10. The highest or any tender will not necessarily be
accepted.

Education Reserve in Otago Land District for Lease by Public Auction.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Dunedin, 10th July, 1920.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned educa-
tion reserve will be offered for lease by public auction
at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, on the
1st day of September, 1920, at 11 o’clock a.m., under the
provisions of the Education Reserves Act, 1908, and the
Public Bodies’ Leases Act, 1908, and amendments.


SCHEDULE.

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.

SECTION 2 of 42, Block II, Hillend District: Area, 9 acres
2 roods 37 perches; upset annual rental, £20.
Weighted with £10 18s., valuation for fencing.
A level section, of excellent quality, situated on a good
road about two miles and a quarter from Balclutha.

ABSTRACT OF CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

A half-year’s rent at the rate offered, and rent for the
broken period between 1st September and the 31st December,
1920, lease and registration fees, and valuation for improve-
ments to be paid on the fall of the hammer.
Term of lease is twenty-one years from 1st January, 1921,
with perpetual right of renewal for further successive terms
of twenty-one years. Rent of renewal lease to be fixed by
arbitration. If lessee does not desire new lease at end of
any term, land to be leased by auction.
The incoming lessee to pay the value of the improvements,
which is to be handed over to outgoing lessee.
No assignment or sublease without consent.
Lessee to improve the land and keep it clear of all weeds.
Interest at the rate of 10 per cent. per annum to be paid
on rent in arrear.
Consent of the Land Board to be obtained before sub-
dividing, erecting any building, or effecting other improve-
ments.
Lease is liable to forfeiture if conditions are violated.

Lands in the Marlborough Land District for Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Blenheim, 12th July, 1920.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands
are open for sale or lease under the Discharged Soldiers
Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and
applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey
Office, Blenheim, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, the
7th September, 1920.
The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred pay-
ments, or selected on lease for thirty-three years, with a right
of renewal for further successive terms of thirty-three years
and a right to acquire the freehold.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board
for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office,
Blenheim, on Thursday, the 9th September, 1920, at
10 o’clock a.m.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination
of applicants.

NOTE.—The deferred-payment instalments on Sections 2s and 5s include payment for buildings.

IMPROVEMENTS.

The improvements that go with the land consist of dilapi-
dated fences, practically valueless, and a small, almost value-
less, borer-riddled cottage on Section 4s.
The improvements which do not go with the land, and
which have to be paid for separately, are as follows: On
Section 2s, wool-shed and yards valued at £200; on Section 5s,
cow-shed valued at £60.

DESCRIPTIONS OF SECTIONS.

Section 1s.—Practically all flat; good soil, in English grass,
well watered.
Section 2s.—Mostly flat; good soil, well watered; inferior
pasture, mostly fern; contains wool-shed and yards.
Section 3s.—Small area of hill, balance flat, in English and
native grasses.
Section 4s.—About a third hill, the rest flat, somewhat heavy
land and wet; contains small cottage, old and worm-eaten.
Section 5s.—Nearly half hill country, chiefly in native grass;
flats wet and heavy, in English and native grasses; contains
serviceable cow-shed.
Section 6s.—About half easy hills, in English and native
grasses; balance more or less flat, somewhat swampy;
inferior pasture.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION.

Linkwater Dale Settlement is situated on the low neck
between Pelorus and Queen Charlotte Sounds, about two
miles and a half from a well-established cheese-factory;
while a church, post-office, school, and hotel adjoin the
property. It is suitable for dairying.
