of July, 1907, and confirmed at a subsequent meeting thereof
on the 11th day of September, 1907, fixing the names and
boundaries and representation of the Dillmans, Stafford,
Arahura, Kanieri, Kokatahi, Rimu, Totara, Okarito, and
Okuru Ridings of the County of Westland be and the same
is hereby rescinded, and that in lieu thereof the number of
ridings in the said county be decreased and altered to three;
that the names of same be as follows—Northern, Central,
and Southern.
That three members shall represent each said new riding;
and that the boundaries thereof be as set out in the description hereunder; and that this resolution on its confirmation in
accordance with the Counties Act, 1908, and its amendments,
as a special order shall come into effect for the purpose of
the preparation and adjustment of valuation rolls on 1st
April, 1921, and for other purposes shall not come into force
and effect until the expiration of the present term of office
of the Councillors.
Northern Riding.
Commencing at midstream at the mouth of the Teremakau
River; thence in a S.E. and E. direction along midstream of
the said river to the dividing range between Canterbury and
Westland; thence S.W. along the said dividing range to the
source of the Arahura River; thence N.W. and N.W. along
the midstream of the said Arahura River to Caledonian Creek; thence S. and W. along midstream of the said Caledonian Creek to Doughtown; thence N.W. and W. bounded
by Reserve 145; thence N.W., passing Mount McKay, to
McKean’s water-race; thence N.W. along the said water-race to the junction of Hauhau and Brennan’s Creek at
Cement Lead Track; thence S.W. along the said Cement
Lead Track to the Hauhau Road; thence W. along the
said Hauhau Road to the Hokitika Borough boundary E.;
thence N.E. and N.W. along the said Hokitika Borough
boundary to the ocean beach; thence along the said ocean
beach N.E. to the commencing-point (the borough of Kumara
is excluded herefrom).
Central Riding.
Commencing at the ocean beach at the S.W. corner of
Endowment Reserve No. 271; thence along and bounded by
the southern part of the said Reserve 271, and thence S.E.
along the northern shores of Lake Mahinapua, and thence
S.E. along and bounded by the H.O. line to the Hokitika
River; thence along the midstream of the said Hokitika
River to the junction of the Hokitika and Whitcombe Rivers;
thence along the midstream of the Whitcombe River to the
dividing range of Canterbury and Westland; thence N.E.
along and bounded by the dividing range to the source of
the Arahura River; thence N.W. and N.W along the mid-stream of the said Arahura River to Caledonian Creek;
thence S. and W. through the midstream of the said creek to
Doughtown; thence N.W. and W. bounded by Reserve No.
145; thence N.W., passing Mount McKay, to McKean’s
water-race; thence N.W. along the said water-race to the
junction of the Hauhau and Brennan’s Creek at Cement Lead
Track; thence S. along the said Cement Lead Track to the
Hauhau Road; thence W. along the said Hauhau Road to
Hokitika Borough boundary, and thence S.W. and N.W.

Southern Riding.
Commencing at the ocean beach at the S.W. corner of
Endowment Reserve No. 271; thence extending along and
bounded by southern part of Section 271, and thence S.E.
along the northern shores of Lake Mahinapua, and thence
along and bounded by the H.O. line to the Hokitika River;
and thence S. and along the midstream of the said Hokitika
River to the junction of the Hokitika and Whitcombe Rivers,
and thence S. along midstream of Whitcombe River to the
dividing range between Canterbury and Westland; thence
S.W. along and bounded by the dividing range of Canterbury
and Westland; thence S.W. and W. along and bounded by
the dividing range between Westland and Otago to Mount
Aspiring, and thence W. by direct line to the mouth of Awarua
River at Big Bay on the ocean beach, and thence N.E.
along and bounded by the ocean beach to the most W. corner
of the Borough of Ross; thence S.E. along the S. boundary
of the said borough; thence N.E. and N.W. along the boundary of the said borough to the said ocean beach, and thence
N.E. along the said ocean beach to the commencing-point.
The foregoing, on becoming a resolution of the Council, was
confirmed at a subsequent meeting held on Tuesday, the 15th
day of June, 1920.
CERTIFICATE.
I, David John Evans, Clerk of the Westland County Council,
hereby certify that the foregoing special order was duly made
by the Council pursuant to the provisions of the Counties
Act, 1908, and its amendments.

WANGANUI ENTRANCE.—SHOALING IN MID-CHANNEL.
Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 6th July, 1920.
MARINERS are hereby warned that the recent flood in
the Wanganui River has caused considerable shoaling in mid-channel at the entrance.
The beacons have now been moved to lead in through the
new channel, which is approximately 60 ft. to 70 ft. south of
mid-channel.
The beacons may be further moved according to the weather
conditions prevailing, and masters, when approaching the
entrance, must pay particular attention to the semaphore
arm by day and to the green light at night.

Zealand Nautical Almanac," 1920, page 309; "New Zealand

Treaty of Peace Order, 1920.—Clearing-office for Debts under
the German Peace Treaty.
BY the above Order a New Zealand clearing-house for
enemy debts as provided for in the Treaty of Peace
with Germany has been established, and the Public Trustee
has been appointed Controller.
All communications should be addressed to “The Controller of the New Zealand Clearing-office, Public Trust Office,
Wellington.”
Attention is drawn to the provisions of the Order forbidding
the payment or the acceptance of any enemy debts or any
communications relating to same except through or by permission of the Controller of the Clearing-office. Contravention
of this provision will render the offender liable to the penalties
provided for trading with the enemy under the Trading with
the Enemy Act, 1914, as if that Act still remained in force.

Education Board of the District of Nelson.—Election of Members.
IN accordance with the provisions of the Education Act,
1914, I hereby notify that Messrs. W. C. Baigent, E. J.
Scantlebury, W. H. McIntyre, and J. W. Treacher have been
duly elected members of the Education Board of the District
of Nelson, representing the North Ward, East Ward, and
West Ward of the Rural Area, and the Nelson City Urban
Area, respectively. All the candidates were returned unopposed.

Prohibition of Money-order and Postal Correspondence for
Arthur Owen, Gisborne.
THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that
the person whose name and address are shown in the
Schedule hereunder is engaged in receiving money as the
consideration for an assurance or agreement implied to pay
money on events relating to horse-races, it is hereby ordered,
under section 28 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, that
no money-order in favour of the said person shall be issued,
and that no postal packet addressed to the said person
(either by his own or any fictitious or assumed name), shall
be registered, forwarded, or delivered by the Post Office of
New Zealand.
