Land taken for the Purposes of a Quarry in Block XI,
Orahiri Survey District, Waitomo County.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is
required to be taken, under the Public Works Act,
1908, for a certain public work—to wit, for the purposes of
a quarry in Block XI, Orahiri Survey District, Waitomo
County:
And whereas the Waitomo County Council has laid before
the Governor-General a memorial, accompanied by a map (in
duplicate) and also the statutory declaration, as required
by the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of
Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and autho-
rities vested in me by the Counties Act, 1908, and the Public
Works Act, 1908, and of every other power and authority
in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim
and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto
is hereby taken for the purposes of the said quarry, and shall
vest in the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the
County of Waitomo, as from the date hereinafter mentioned;
and I do also declare that this Proclamation shall take effect
on and after the fourteenth day of August, one thousand nine
hundred and twenty.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land taken: 2 acres 2 roods
32·9 perches.
Portion of Hauturu East No. 1e Section 3, Block XI,
Orahiri Survey District. (S.O. 20804.)
In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 48629,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at
Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon
edged pink.

Stopping a Government Road in Block I, Takahue Survey
District.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by paragraph (c) of section one hundred
and thirty-three of the Public Works Act, 1908, it is
enacted that the Governor-General may, by Proclamation
publicly notified, stop or alter the course of any Government
road or any part thereof:
And whereas the Government road described in the
Schedule hereto is no longer required for the purpose of a
road:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of
Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the above-in-part-
recited Act, and of all other powers in anywise enabling
me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim as stopped the road
described in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of road hereby stopped:
2 acres 2 roods.

Awanui, Block I, Takahue Survey District (Auckland

In the North Auckland Land District; as the same is more

Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon
co'oured green.

Amending Rules as to Life-saving Appliances for Ships.
LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this fifth day of
July, 1920.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the twenty-third
day of December, one thousand nine hundred and
nineteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 1, of
the eighth day of the following month, an additional rule
was made as to life-saving appliances for ships:
And whereas it is desirable to revoke such rule and to make
a new rule in lieu thereof:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the power conferred upon him by section one hundred and
ninety-seven of the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, and of
all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and acting by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke the said Order in
Council of the twenty-third day of December, one thousand
nine hundred and nineteen, and doth hereby make the fol-
lowing rule as to life-saving appliances for ships, viz.,—
“3. Life-jackets previously passed.—Until the 1st July,
1921, any life-jacket which has been previously passed by a
Marine Department Surveyor as part of the statutory equip-
ment of a vessel may be accepted as part of the statutory
equipment of the same vessel so long as it remains in good
condition.”
