ALL that area in the City of Wellington, being Section 699, Town of Wellington. As the said area is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 48547, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon bordered red.

At the Government House at Wellington, this eighth day of June, 1920.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by subsection five of section one hundred and twenty-nine of the Patents, Designs, and Trade-marks Act, 1911, it is provided that where it is made to appear to the Governor-General that satisfactory provision has been made as between New Zealand and any foreign State or British possession for the mutual protection of inventions, designs, or trade-marks, the Governor-General may by Order in Council declare that that section shall apply to that foreign State or British possession as from a date to be specified in the Order in Council, subject, however, to such restrictions or limitations (if any) as the Governor-General thinks fit:

And whereas it has been made to appear to me that satisfactory provision has been made as between New Zealand and the Union of South Africa for the mutual protection of inventions and designs:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on him as aforesaid, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that section one hundred and twenty-nine of the Patents, Designs, and Trade-marks Act, 1911, shall, so far as it relates to patents and designs, apply to the Union of South Africa as from the twenty-eighth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and twenty.

Consenting to the Raising of Loans by certain Local Authorities.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this fifteenth day of June, 1920.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section twenty, subsection one, of the Finance Act, 1919, it is provided that, notwithstanding any Act to the contrary, it shall not be lawful or competent for any local authority or for any Harbour Board to borrow or contract to borrow any money (otherwise than by way of bank overdraft within the limit of its powers, if any, in that behalf), whether from the State Advances Office or from any other source whatever, and whether in pursuance of a special Act or under any other authority whatever, without the precedent consent of the Governor-General in Council:

And whereas application has been made for the consent of the Governor-General in Council to enable the several local authorities mentioned in the Schedule hereto to borrow the sums set out therein:

And whereas it is expedient that the precedent consent of the Governor-General in Council should issue:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby consent to the raising of the loans hereinafter mentioned by the several local authorities set out in the Schedule hereto, provided that the rate of interest at which the loans or any of them are to be raised shall in no case produce to the lender a return exceeding five and one-quarter pounds per centum per annum; and it is hereby declared that this Order in Council is made under the provisions in that behalf of the Finance Act, 1919, and shall operate accord-

ingly as a consent of the Governor-General in Council to the raising of the loans hereby authorized.
