the said Section 17, the north-western boundaries of Sec-
tions 17, 17A, 30, across a road, and again of Section 17 ;
thence along the south-western boundary of Karamuramu
No. 2 for a distance of seventy-five chains, and north-easterly
along a right line parallel to the north-western boundary of
the Hikutawatawa Block to the south-western boundary of
Section 12, Block III, Te Tumu Survey District ; thence
south-westerly along that boundary and its production to
the eastern side of a public road fronting said Section 12,
and along the said eastern side of road to the south-eastern
corner of Section 1 ; thence northerly along the western
boundaries of Sections 1 and 15, Block III, Te Tumu Survey
District, across a road, and along the western boundaries
of Sections 4 and 9, Block I, and the production of the last
named to the high-water mark of the Bay of Plenty, being
the point of commencement.

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries of the
Borough of Carterton.


Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 5th June, 1920.

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Municipal Corporations
Amendment Act, 1913, it is hereby notified that a
petition, in accordance with regulations, signed by not less
than one-fourth of the electors of the area described in the
Schedule hereto, situated in the Borough of Carterton, has
been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General pray-
ing that the said area may be excluded from the said borough
and included in the County of Wairarapa South.

All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any
written objections to or petitions against the proposed altera-
tion within one month from the first publication of this notice.
Such objections or petitions are to be addressed and for-
warded to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE EXCLUDED FROM THE BOROUGH OF
CARTERTON.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by
a line commencing at the southernmost corner of Section
29, Block I, Tiffin Survey District, thence proceeding north-
easterly along the south-eastern boundaries of sections num-
bered 29, 28, 27, 26, 25, across Hilton Road, 24, 23, 22, 21,
20, 19, 18, 17, across Moreton Road, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11,
10, 9, across Richmond Road, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1, and
the production of the last-named boundary across Park
Road, and through Sections 142 and 143 to the north-eastern
boundary of the last-mentioned section on the borough
boundary ; thence south-easterly, south-westerly, and north-
westerly along the said borough boundary to the point of
commencement.

Grading of Teachers.—Chairman of Appeal Boards appointed.

IT is hereby notified for general information that
JOSEPH WILLIAM POYNTON, Stipendiary Magistrate,
has been appointed Chairman of all Appeal Boards for the
year 1920 set up to hear appeals in connection with the
grading of teachers. This appointment is made under
clause 18 of the regulations for the grading of teachers made
by Order in Council of the 23rd December, 1919.

Notice of Intention to take Land in the City of Wellington for
the Purposes of a Public Trust Office.


NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute
a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a Public
Trust office in the City of Wellington ; and for the purposes
of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto
is required to be taken.

And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land
so required to be taken is deposited in the Public Works Office
in the Government Buildings at Wellington, and is there open
for inspection ; and that all persons affected by the execution
of the said public work or by the taking of the said land
should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the
execution of the said public work or to the taking of such
land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing,
within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to
the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken :

Being Section 5, Block III, Thorndon Reclamation, City
of Wellington.

In the Wellington Land District ; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 48610,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at
Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon
edged green.

Notice of Taking and Laying-off of a Road in Blocks VI and
X, Aroha Survey District, Auckland Land District.


NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency
the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand,
under the authority of regulation 22 of the regulations for
the occupation of pastoral land within the Hauraki Mining
District, made on the 26th day of March, 1913, under the
authority of section 3 of the Land Act, 1908, and section 38
of the Mining Act, 1908, that the road described in the
Schedule hereto was on the 14th day of April, 1920, duly
taken and laid off through the land specified in the said
Schedule, under the authority of the Governor-General of
the said Dominion, by Warrant dated the 22nd day of
January, 1920.
