Importation of Apples from New Zealand into the Territory of Hawaii.-Notice No. 1992.

THE following extract from a rule made by the Board of Commissioners of Agriculture and Forestry of the Territory of Hawaii, permitting the introduction of fresh apples from New Zealand, is published for general information:
"Fresh apples may be imported into the territory of Hawaii direct from New Zealand in cold storage only, if they are free from insect pests and plant diseases, and are accompanied by a Government certificate declaring that the apples have been grown in New Zealand and are shipped free from insect pests and plant diseases, and are also accompanied by a Government certificate declaring that they have not and will not come in contact with Australian-grown fruit on the voyage to the territory of Hawaii."

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.
Education Reserves in Southland Land District for Lease by Public Auction.
District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, 22nd January, 1920.
NOTICE is hereby given that the education reserves described in the Schedule hereto will be offered for lease by public auction at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, at 11 o'clock a.m. on Friday, 27th February, 1920, under the provisions of the Education Reserves Act, 1908, and amendments, and the Public Bodies' Leases Act, 1908.
SCHEDULE.
SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.
PART I.
Southland County.-Wendon Survey District.
Part Section 11, Block XIV : Area, 441 acres 0 roods 36 perches; upset annual rental, £62.
Weighted with £500, valuation for improvements.
Situated four miles from Waipounamu Siding and two miles from Wendon School and post-office by fairly level road, all gravelled excepting half a mile. Fifty acres good level land, 250 acres under cultivation, balance ferny gullies. The section lies well to the sun, and is good grazing-country.
Southland County.-Town of South Lumsden.
Sections 8, Block II, and 4 and 7, Block VII : Area, 26 acres 2 roods 15 perches; upset annual rental, £8.
Good agricultural land within a mile of Lumsden Railway-station, post-office, and school.
PART II.
Wallace County.-Township of South Mossburn.
Sections 2 to 10 (inclusive), Block II : Area, 4 acres 3 roods 16 perches; upset annual rental, £2.
Weighted with £21, valuation for improvements.
Light, shingly, level land adjoining Town of Mossburn.
Sections 1 to 12 (inclusive), Block III : Area, 5 acres 2 roods 36 perches; upset annual rental, £3.
Weighted with £25 10s., valuation for improvements.
Light, shingly level land adjoining Town of Mossburn.
ABSTRACT OF CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

Possession will be given of the South Lumsden sections on day of sale, of the South Mossburn sections on 1st March, 1920, and of the Wendon section on 1st May, 1920.

The term of lease will be twenty-one years from 1st July, 1920.

A half-year's rent at the rate offered and the rent for the broken period between date of possession and 30th June, 1920, lease and registration fee, stamp duty, and valuation for improvements, to be paid on the fall of the hammer.

The leases of sections described in Part I of the Schedule include a clause giving perpetual right of renewal for further successive terms of twenty-one years at rentals to be fixed by arbitration.

The lessees of sections described in Part II of the Schedule shall have no such right of renewal.

No assignment, sublease, or mortgage without consent.
-
Interest at the rate of 10 per cent. per annum on rent in arrears.

Lessee to improve the land and keep it clear of all weeds.

Consent of Land Board to be obtained before subdividing, erecting any building, or effecting other improvements.

Leases will be registered under the Land Transfer Act.

Lease is liable to forfeiture if conditions violated.

NOTICE is hereby given, in the terms of the Land Act, 1908, and the regulations thereunder, that written tenders are invited and will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 12 o'clock noon on Wednesday, 4th February, 1920, for the purchase of the milling-timber on the undermentioned Crown land.
