Section 2s.—Partly low easy hills in grass, with a few patches of small manuka, and partly flat, about 100 acres of which is rich river-flat, balance rather light pumiceous flats.
Section 3s.—Undulating to hilly, with some ploughable flats, about 80 acres suitable for cropping. Section is well grassed.
Section 4s.—Chiefly easy slopes, undulating ploughable country; mostly in light manuka and fern, with some patches of grass.
Section 5s.—Partly easy slopes and spurs well grassed, and partly fairly steep spurs and faces, with about 100 acres of mixed bush chiefly tawa and some rimu. Soil fair on the lower portions, improving on the higher ground.
Section 6s.—About 700 acres of light pumiceous soil on hilly country, covered with small manuka; balance good soil, with patches of big manuka.
Section 8s.—All hilly country mostly in heavy manuka, light bush in gullies. About 250 acres good soil, cleared and grassed.
Section 9s.—Undulating to hilly country, with light soil on the lower slopes and good on the higher country, holding good grass, light patches of manuka.
Section 10s.—Chiefly easy warm slopes, good soil and well grassed, patches of manuka and scrub.
Section 11s.—Light pumiceous soil of fair quality on easy undulating country, largely ploughable, and for the greater part covered with small manuka. About 40 acres of good mixed bush, chiefly tawa.
Section 12s.—Principally easy spurs and slopes. Good soil, well grassed. About 120 acres of good tawa bush, with a number of rimu-trees.
Section 13s.—Chiefly hilly country, in manuka scrub, with small patches of mixed bush; fair soil, well watered by permanent streams.
Section 14s.—Generally easy hills and spurs; about 400 acres good soil, cleared and well grassed; balance in manuka scrub, with patches of grass; light soil.
Section 15s.—Undulating to hilly country mostly in tutu and fern, with light manuka on the spurs; about 400 acres cleared and grassed, and about 100 acres light bush chiefly tawa.
Section 16s.—Undulating and hilly country generally, about 700 acres partly cleared and grassed, remainder in heavy fern and tutu, with light mixed bush of tawa and kowhai in the gullies.
Section 17s.—Undulating to hilly country, partly grassed and part in manuka scrub; fair soil.
Section 18s.—Chiefly undulating and hilly country; about 200 acres in heavy tutu and fern, remainder partly cleared and grassed and partly in manuka scrub and fern, with light bush in the gullies; fair soil.

Land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District for Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands are open for sale or lease under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Napier, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 14th June, 1920.
The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for sixty-six years, with right of renewal for further successive terms of sixty-six years, and a right to acquire the freehold.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Napier, on Tuesday, 15th June, 1920, at 10 o’clock a.m.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION.
Within one mile of the Town of Porangahau, and distant about twenty-eight miles from the Waipukurau Railway-station by well-formed road.
Country comprises hilly to undulating and easy sloping land, with a number of small river-flats; good soil; fair to good sheep-country, well watered, and carrying a good bottom of English and native grasses. Altitude varies from 200 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level.
DESCRIPTION OF SECTIONS.
Section 1, Block VII.—Easy and undulating country, about 100 acres ploughable; good soil on the slopes, generally well grassed with native and English grasses, well watered.
Section 2, Block VII.—Chiefly good soil on easy slopes, a fair proportion ploughable; patches of scrub in some of the gullies.
Section 4, Block VII.—About 13 acres of good flat land, well grassed, balance hilly and easy undulating country, portions of which are ploughable; scrub in some of the gullies, but generally well-grassed clean country.
Section 1, Block XI.—About 70 acres of good river-flats, clean and well grassed; balance hilly country, steep in places, but portion being easy ploughable slopes. Small area in manuka scrub and tauhina. Well grassed and watered.
Section 2, Block XI.—About 11 acres good river-flat in good pasture, balance hilly country with a few steep faces, but mostly easy slopes and well grassed.
