MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Results of Polls on Proposals to raise Loans.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Masterton was taken on the 18th day of December, 1919, on the proposal of the Borough Council to borrow the sum of £27,000 for the purpose of augmenting and extending the existing plant for the manufacture and distribution of the gas-supply of the borough, purchase of all necessary plant and equipment, machinery, pipes, fittings, and material, purchase of land, and extension of railway siding.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 345, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 221.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Masterton was taken on the 18th day of December, 1919, on the proposal of the Borough Council to borrow the sum of £43,000 for the purpose of street improvements in the borough.
The number of votes recorded for the purpose was 251, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 314.
I therefore declare that the proposal was lost.
Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Masterton was taken on the 18th day of December, 1919, on the proposal of the Borough Council to borrow the sum of £8,000 for protective works on the Waipoua River.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 258, and the number of votes against the proposal was 301.
I therefore declare that the proposal was lost.

HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Hamilton taken on the 12th day of December, 1919, on the proposal of the Hamilton Borough Council to borrow the sum of £5,000 for the following purpose:—
For the purchase, construction, erection, and laying of retort-beds, condensers, gas-mains, and other additions and extensions of the gasworks of the Borough of Hamilton
the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 314, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 116; informal, 7: total number of voters, 437.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Hamilton taken on the 12th day of December, 1919, on the proposal of the Hamilton Borough Council to borrow the sum of £33,000 for the following purposes:—
For the purchase, construction, erection, and fitting of electric lines, machinery, plant, lamps, meters, fittings, and appliances for distributing and measuring electricity and for supplying electricity to consumers and for the purposes of the Council, and for lighting streets: £26,000
For the purchase, construction, laying, and fitting of additional machinery, pipes, mains, intakes, fittings, and appliances for the supply of water: £5,000
For the erection of offices, houses, and buildings for the use of the staff and workmen of the Council’s electricity and water-works departments: £2,000
the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 372, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 62; informal, 3: total number of voters, 437.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Hamilton was taken on the 12th day of December, 1919, on
the proposal of the Hamilton Borough Council to borrow the sum of £20,000 for the following purposes:—
For a culvert in drain in Clyde Street .. 175
For a storm-water drain in London Street .. 150
For a storm-water drain from Frankton Road to Hall Street, Frankton .. .. .. 300
For additions to the Hall at Frankton .. .. 375
For alterations to bridge and street at eastern side of traffic-bridge .. .. .. .. 450
For concreting Frankton Road from Frankton Railway line to Keddell Street .. .. 1,000
For the purchase of motor trucks and vehicles 5,000
For alterations and additions to septic tank in Hillsborough Terrace .. .. .. 350
For making surveys and preparing plans for a bridge over the Waikato River .. .. 300
For altering and improving the foot-way and carriage-way of Garden Place .. .. 1,000

The loan in each case to include the cost of all necessary labour, plant, tools, and supervision.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 337, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 92; informal, 8: total number of voters, 437.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

MOTUEKA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Motueka was taken on the 22nd day of December, 1919, on the proposal of the Motueka Borough Council to borrow the sum of £14,000 for the following purposes:—
(a.) The construction, erection, and installation of a powerhouse, building, and suction-gas plant for generating and supplying electricity for lighting and other purposes, for which purposes the sum of £13,000 of the above £14,000 is required.
(b.) The purchase of land for the erection thereon of the aforesaid buildings and plant, for which purpose the sum of £150 of the above £14,000 is required.
(c.) For advances to owners or occupiers of premises to enable them to connect their premises with electric-light mains and provide service fittings and meters, for which purpose the sum of £850 of the above £14,000 is required.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 172, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 79.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
