NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands are open for sale or lease under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, the 7th June, 1920.
The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for thirty-three years, with right of renewal for further successive terms of thirty-three years and a right to acquire the freehold.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, on Wednesday, the 9th June, 1920, at 10 o’clock a.m.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Paparua County.—Christchurch Survey District.—Hornby Settlement.
SECTION 7, Block XIII: Area, 3 acres; capital value, £200; instalment on deferred payments (excluding interest), £10; half-yearly rent on lease, £4 10s.
Section 10, Block XIII: Area, 3 acres; capital value, £200; instalment on deferred payments (excluding interest), £10; half-yearly rent on lease, £4 10s.
Good flat agricultural land in grass; there is Californian thistle on both sections. Situated about half a mile from Hornby Railway-station by good road. Hornby is six miles from Christchurch, and may be reached by regular tram and motor-bus service.
The improvements that go with the land are as follows: Section 7, 17 chains of fencing valued at £10; Section 10, 12 chains of fencing valued at £8.

Pastoral Run in Canterbury Land District for License to Discharged Soldiers.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned pastoral run is open for selection by discharged soldiers in terms of the Land Act, 1908, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and amendments; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, the 7th June, 1920.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, at 10 o’clock a.m. on Wednesday, 9th June, 1920, but if any applicant so desires he may be examined by the Land Board of any other district.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.
Waimate County.—Hewlings, Dalzell, and Gibson Survey Districts.
RUN 66A, Class A: Area, 21,200 acres; annual rent, £660; term, fourteen years.
All pastoral country, with flats (more or less stony) along the Waitaki River, remainder rough broken country ranging from 800 ft. to 6,300 ft. The vegetation consists mostly of native grasses. Well watered.
The improvements that go with the land are about thirty miles of boundary and subdivisional fencing valued at £1,197. Access is from Kurow Railway-station, about thirteen miles by fairly good road. Rabbits are somewhat numerous on this block, but they are now being trapped and poisoned.

DESCRIPTIONS OF SECTIONS.
Section 1.—Small flats along Hurunui River, remainder steep broken pastoral country, well grassed with English and native grasses; well watered. Altitude, 1,200 ft. to 2,760 ft. The homestead block for this section is Section 1A, which is nearly all low hills, well grassed. Access is by good dray-road thirteen miles from Hawarden Railway-station.
Section 2.—Small flats along Jack’s Creek Road, remainder somewhat steep pastoral country, well grassed with English and native grasses; well watered. Altitude, 1,250 ft. to 2,400 ft. Access is the same as for Section 1.
Weighted with £150 for cottage and stable, which may be paid for in cash or by twenty-eight half-yearly instalments of £7 11s. 6d. or out of advances; total half-yearly payment on lease, £91 10s.
Section 3.—About 120 acres somewhat stony flats, remainder steep and broken pastoral country, well grassed with English and native grasses; well watered. Altitude, 1,250 ft. to
