IN exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 31 of the Counties Act, 1908, the Geraldine County Council, on the petition of a majority of the ratepayers of the Mount Peel Road District, resolves by way of special order that on and after the 31st day of March, 1920, the said road district shall be merged in the County of Geraldine and the Road Board thereof abolished.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Council of the Borough of Ashburton, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

ASHBURTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Ashburton was taken on the 17th day of March, 1920, on the proposal of the Ashburton Borough Council to borrow by way of special loan the sum of £35,000, by debentures or otherwise, for the purpose of providing and constructing all things necessary for the efficient drainage and sanitation of the Borough of Ashburton. That the loan be for a period of 36½ years, and bear interest at the rate of £4 10s. per centum, with sinking fund at the rate of £1 2s. 2d. per centum per annum, such interest and sinking fund amounting together to £5 12s. 2d. per centum per annum, being payable by half-yearly instalments during the currency of the loan. That the proposed security for such loan is an annually recurring special rate of one shilling in the pound on the annual value of all rateable property within the whole of the Borough of Ashburton. That it is proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising the loan, preliminary expenses incurred in connection therewith, and the interest and sinking fund for the first year.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 379, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 196; informal, 5: total, 580.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Council of the Borough of Eltham, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

BOROUGH OF ELTHAM.
Notice of Result of Poll.
In the matter of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913; and in the matter of a loan of £4,000 for the purchase and erection of a 45,000 cubic feet gas-holder, construction of tank for same, and incidental expenses connected therewith.
I HEREBY give public notice that at the poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Eltham taken on the 22nd day of March, 1920, on the above proposal the votes recorded were as follows: The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 50, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 4; the number of votes informal was nil.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
Dated at Eltham this 23rd day of March, 1920.
