Opening National Endowment Lands in Otago Land District
for Selection by Discharged Soldiers on Renewable Lease.
LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur
William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare
that the national endowment lands described in the Schedule
hereto, which have been set apart for selection by discharged
soldiers, shall be open for selection by discharged soldiers
on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-fourth day of
May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, at the rentals
mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare
that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the
provisions of the said Act and the Discharged Soldiers
Settlement Act, 1915.

Weighted with valuation for improvements as follows:
Sections 11 and 21, Block IV, £46 11s.; Sections 22 and 24,

GENERAL DESCRIPTION.
These sections are subdivisions of the Kyeburn Runs.
Those in Maniototo district are situated about five miles from
Kokonga Railway-siding on the Otago Central line, and those in
Kyeburn district are from one to three miles from Naseby
Town and about twelve miles from Kokonga Railway-station.
There is a school and post-office within easy distance.
The country is undulating and under native tussock.
The soil is a light loam, on a gravel formation. Access is
provided by good roads.
SPECIAL CONDITION.
The successful applicants for these sections have the option
of acquiring a lease in common of Run 573 at an annual rent
of £50, and weighted with £76 8s., valuation for fencing.

for Selection by Discharged Soldiers on Renewable Lease.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur
William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare
that the national endowment lands described in the Schedule
hereto, which have been set apart for selection by dis-
charged soldiers, shall be open for selection by discharged
soldiers on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-fourth
day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty,
at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do
also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and
subject to the provisions of the said Act and the Discharged
Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915.
SCHEDULE.
NELSON LAND DISTRICT.—NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.—SECOND-
CLASS LAND.
Murchison County.—Tutaki Survey District.—Westland Mining
District.
(Exempt from Rent for Seven Years.)
SECTION 5, Block XIII: Area, 618 acres; capital value,
£310; half-yearly rent, £6 4s.
Hilly country, with the exception of about 20 acres flat
and undulating along road. Fair soil, sandstone, on granite
formation. All in forest, consisting of birch, with a few odd
pines on flat, and heavy undergrowth of horopito, five-finger,
and birch scrub. Well watered. Altitude, 800 ft. to 3,000 ft.
Eleven miles and a half from Murchison by good metalled
dray-road.
Section 22, Block IX: Area, 268 acres; capital value,
£130; half-yearly rent, £2 12s.
Greater portion of section is hilly, with small flats on road
badly infested with blackberry. Soil fair quality, resting
on shale formation. Forest is heavy, and comprises red and
brown birch, with a few pines in places; heavy undergrowth
of birch scrub, horopito, five-finger, maku, &c. Well watered.
Altitude, 700 ft. to 2,170 ft. About six miles and a half from
Murchison by good metalled dray-road.
Section 3, Block XIII: Area, 659 acres; capital value, £330;
half-yearly rent, £6 12s.
Steep broken country, with the exception of small flats
along road and river. Good soil on flats, hills very poor;
sandstone, resting on granite formation. Part section badly
overrun with blackberry on road frontage, and bush in places
partly destroyed by fire; balance forest, consisting of red and
brown birch, with a few pines, with heavy undergrowth of
birch, horopito, and five-finger. Well watered by Ten-mile
Creek. Altitude, 720 ft. to 3,000 ft. Ten miles from Murchi-
son by good metalled dray-road.
Section 4, Block XIII: Area, 1,311 acres; capital value,
£660; half-yearly rent, £13 4s.
Principally rough hilly country, with some good swampy
flats along road and river frontage. Fair soil on flats, which
are alluvial; hills poor sandstone, resting on granite forma-
tion. All in forest, consisting of red and brown birch, with
a few odd white-pines and matai, with heavy undergrowth
of horopito, birch, and five-finger. Some small patches burnt
but not grassed, overgrown with fern and blackberry. Well
watered by Mailman’s Creek. Altitude, 800 ft. to 3,000 ft.
Ten miles and a half from Murchison by good metalled dray-
road.

General, this twenty-third day of March, one
thousand nine hundred and twenty.

Te Awamutu—Putaruru Railway Board.
LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
WHEREAS, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
conferred upon him by sections four and thirteen of
the Local Railways Act, 1914, His Excellency the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand did, by Warrant
dated the seventeenth day of February, one thousand nine
hundred and twenty, determine that the Te Awamutu—Puta-
ruru Railway Board should consist of seven members, and
did fix Wednesday, the twenty-fourth day of March, one
thousand nine hundred and twenty, as the date on which
the first general election of members of the said Board should
be held:
And whereas it was found inexpedient to hold such election
on the date appointed:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the said
Act, doth hereby fix Wednesday, the twenty-first day of
April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, as the date
on which shall be held the first general election of members
of the said Te Awamutu—Putaruru Railway Board in lieu
of the date fixed by the aforesaid Warrant.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this twenty-seventh day of March, one
thousand nine hundred and twenty.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the
two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of the Justices
of the Peace Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile,
Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of
New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the persons
set out in the Schedule hereto, being persons holding the
office of Postmaster under the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908,
at the places set opposite their names in the said Schedule,
