2. Puerto Obaldia is operated by the U.S. Naval Communication Service, and is prepared to handle U.S. and Panaman government despatches free of charge. The station also handles commercial traffic at rates which may be obtained from the Naval Radio Station, Balboa, C.Z.

3. The following daily schedule of watches will be maintained by Puerto Obaldia Radio : 6.00 to 8.00 a.m., 12.00 noon to 2.00 p.m., 6.00 to 8.00 p.m. All messages for this station will be handled via Balboa Radio on above schedules, and those received at Balboa at any time outside of schedule cannot be transmitted until the following schedule.

4. Messages for Puerto Obaldia, or other U.S. Naval Radio Stations in the Republic of Panama, may be filed at any of the Panama Railroad or Panama National Telegraph offices.

COAST OF PERU.

PESCADORES POINT.-DERELICT REPORTED SOUTHWARD OF.

Date sighted.—On the 30th December, 1919.

Position.—Lat. 16° 35' S., long. 73° 13' W.

Description.—Derelict American steamer “Firewood,” bottom up.

Caution.—This derelict constitutes a danger to navigation.

PACIFIC OCEAN.

GALAPAGOS ISLANDS.—CHATHAM ISLAND, WRECK POINT.—SHOAL WESTWARD OF.

Position.—At a distance of about 3 miles westward from Wreck Point. Lat. 0° 55' 15" S., long. 89° 40' 12" W.

Depth.—2 fathoms.

MALACCA STRAIT.

DINDING CHANNEL SOUTHERN APPROACH.—PULO KATAK LIGHT.—ALTERATION IN CHARACTERISTICS.

Position.—Lat. 4° 9¼' N., long. 100° 36¼' E.

New Abridged Description.—Lt. gp. occ. (2), ev. 30 secs., 90 ft., vis. 10 m.

Details.—The fixed white light has been replaced by a light having the undermentioned characteristics :

Character.—A group occulting white light, showing two eclipses every thirty seconds.

Elevation.—90 ft.

Visibility.—10 miles.

Structure.—White brick tower 30 ft. in height.

JAPAN.

INLAND SEA.—BUOYS TO BE MOVED.

Notice is hereby given that four lighted buoys (Naru-se, Taka-se, Mutsuredashi, and Gomiyose-su), W. entrance to Shimonoseki Strait, will be occasionally moved from their due positions during the course of dredging works in the vicinity of those lighted buoys.

Further notice will be given when the works have been completed.

SOUTH COAST OF HONSHU.—NEW LIGHT TO BE SHOWN.

Notice is hereby given that newly established lighthouse on Sunosaki, Province of Awa, will be shown as follows since the 15th of December, 1919 :

Sunosaki Lighthouse.

Position.—Lat. 34° 58' 38" N., long. 139° 45' 50" E. (according to the Japanese Admiralty Chart No. 90).

Description.—Circular concrete tower, white.

Height of Light.—40 shaku above the base, 144 shaku above the water.

Character of Light.—Fourth order, flashing alternately red and white every 15 seconds.

Illuminated Arc.—An arc 265° 40', from N. 8° W., through N., E., and S., to S. 77° 40' W. (magnetic bearings taken from the sea).

Power.—2,000 candles.

Visible Distance.—18 nautical miles in clear night.

SUMATRA.

EAST COAST.—LUCIPARA POINT.—EXTENSION OF.

Position on Chart.—Lucipara Point, lat. 3° 13½' S., long. 106° 42½' E.

Caution.—The following cautionary note is to be inserted on the chart against the above point, which has extended considerably to the eastward ; mariners are warned accordingly: “CAUTION.—Reported to have extended about one mile further east (1919).”

AUSTRALIA.

EAST COAST, CLEVELAND BAY.—BAY ROCK LIGHT.—INTENDED ALTERATION IN CHARACTERISTICS.—SIGNAL-STATION TO BE DISCONTINUED.

Mariners and others are hereby notified that the fixed white light with red sector on Bay Rock will be replaced by a group flashing white light with red sector (U), and, further, that the signal-station will be discontinued, on or about 31st May, 1920.

Position.—Lat. 19° 7' S., long. 146° 46' E., on Chart No. 2349.

Details.—The fixed white light with red sector will be replaced by a new light having the undermentioned characteristics :

Character.—Group flashing white light, with red sector, showing two flashes in quick succession every six seconds, thus—flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 4⅓ secs.

Visibility.—White, 15 miles; red, 6 miles.

Power.—White, 1,500 candles ; red, 600 candles.

Remarks.—The light will be unwatched. The signal-station will be discontinued and the lightkeeper withdrawn. The other details of the light will remain unchanged.

Note.—No further notice will be given.

FINGAL HEAD LIGHT.—INTENDED ALTERATION IN CHARACTER.—SIGNAL-STATION TO BE DISCONTINUED.

Mariners and others are hereby notified that the fixed white light on Fingal Head will be replaced by a group flashing white light (U), and, further, that the signal-station will be discontinued, on or about 15th June, 1920.

Position.—Southward of Tweed River entrance. Lat. 28° 11' S., long. 153° 35' E., on Chart No. 1028.

Details.—The fixed white light will be replaced by a new light having the undermentioned characteristics :

Character.—Group flashing white light, showing two flashes in quick succession every six seconds, thus—flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 4⅓ secs.

Visibility.—12 miles.

Power.—1,500 candles.

Remarks.—The light will be unwatched. The signal-station will be discontinued, and the lightkeeper withdrawn. The other details of the light will remain unchanged.

Note.—No further notice will be given.

SOUTH COAST, SPENCER GULF.—Corny POINT LIGHT.—INTENDED ALTERATION IN CHARACTER.—SIGNAL-STATION TO BE DISCONTINUED.

Mariners and others are hereby notified that the fixed white light with red sector on Corny Point will be replaced by a group flashing white light with red sector (U), and, further, that the signal-station will be discontinued, on or about 30th June, 1920.

Position.—North extreme of Corny Point. Lat. 34° 54' S., long. 137° 1' E., on Chart No. 2389.

Details.—The fixed white light with red sector will be replaced by a new light having the undermentioned characteristics :

Character.—Group flashing white light with red sector, showing four flashes in quick succession every twelve seconds, thus—flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 1 sec. ; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 7⅔ secs.

Sectors.—Red from 29° (N. 24⅙° E. mag.) to 54° (N. 49½° E. mag.) ; white from 54° (N. 49½° E. mag.) through east and south to 249° (S. 64½° W. mag.).

Visibility.—White, 15 miles; red, 7 miles.

Power.—White, 2,500 candles ; red, 1,000 candles.

Remarks.—The light will be unwatched. The signal-station will be discontinued, and the lightkeepers withdrawn. The other details of the light will remain unchanged.
