Date of Election to fill Extraordinary Vacancy on Oamaru and Port Chalmers Fire Boards by Fire-insurance Companies.

PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1908, and the rules made thereunder, I, Francis Henry Dillon Bell, being the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act do hereby appoint Friday, the 19th March, 1920, to be the date for holding the election of one member of the Oamaru and Port Chalmers Fire Board by the fire-insurance companies concerned, such election being held to fill an extraordinary vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. H. M. Didsbury.

Post Office Savings-Bank.—Increase in Rate of Interest.
Wellington, 9th March, 1920.
NOTICE is hereby given that, in accordance with section 77 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, the Savings-Bank rates of interest on deposits up to £300 are increased by one-quarter of one per cent., making the interest payable on so much of a deposit as does not exceed £300 four per cent. instead of three and three-quarters per cent. per annum as at present; also that the Savings-Bank rates of interest on so much of a deposit as exceeds £300 and does not exceed £1,000 are increased by one-quarter of one per cent., making the interest payable thereon three and one-quarter per cent. instead of three per cent. per annum as at present. In the case of accounts with balances over £1,000 to credit, the respective increases will apply only to so much of the balance of such accounts as does not exceed £1,000. Such increases will take effect on the 1st April, 1920.

AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—SUNKEN HULK.

WITH reference to Notices to Mariners Nos. 74 and 80 of 1920, the Auckland Harbour Board has now notified that salvage operations in connection with the sunken hulk “Selwyn Craig” have been suspended. The hulk now lies approximately east and west, distant 330 ft. south-east of the main wharf, Chelsea, in nine fathoms of water, with five fathoms over it at L.W.S.T.
The wreck is marked on the channel or southern side by a green wreck-buoy.
