ENGLAND.

EAST COAST.—FLAMBOROUGH HEAD.—LIGHT-BUOYS SOUTH-EASTWARD OF WITHDRAWN.

  1. Position.—At a distance of about 5 1/2 miles south-eastward from Flamborough Head. Lat. 54° 31' N., long. 0° 3 1/2' E.
    Description.—No. 14 black spherical light-buoy, formerly exhibiting a flashing red light.

  2. Position.—At a distance of about 17 miles south-eastward from Flamborough Head. Lat. 53° 54 1/2' N., long. 0° 15 1/2' E.
    Description.—No. 12 black spherical light-buoy, formerly exhibiting a group flashing red light.

SOUTH-EAST COAST.—GOODWIN SANDS.—CORRECTIONS TO CHART No. 1828 WITH REGARD TO BUOYAGE.

Position.—South-east Goodwin buoy, lat. 51° 12 1/2' N., long. 1° 34 1/2' E.
Details.—(a.) On some copies of Chart No. 1828 the South-east Goodwin buoy is shown with topmark; the topmark is to be expunged from the chart.
(b.) On some copies of Chart No. 1828 the South Goodwin buoy is shown without a topmark; a topmark consisting of a staff and cylindrical cage is to be inserted on this buoy on the charts.
Chart affected.—No. 1828, The Downs.

SCOTLAND.

WEST COAST.—RATHLIN ISLAND.—RUE POINT.—LIGHT AND FOG-SIGNAL ESTABLISHED.

(a.) Light.

Position.—At a distance of 17 yards from the southern extremity of Rue Point. Lat. 55° 15 1/2' N., long. 6° 11 1/4' W.
Abridged Description.—Lt. gp. fl. (2), ev. 5 secs., 36 ft., vis. 11 m. (U).
Details:—
Character.—A group flashing white light, showing two flashes every five seconds, thus—flash, 1/2 sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash 1/2 sec., eclipse 3 1/2 secs.
Elevation.—36 ft.
Visibility.—11 miles; the light is visible all round the horizon except where obscured by the land.
Power.—About 350 candles.
Structure.—Black steel trestle-work, 33 ft. in height.
Remarks.—The light is unwatched.

(b.) Fog-signal.

Description.—One explosive report every fifteen seconds.

ORKNEY ISLANDS.

INFORMATION WITH REGARD TO LIGHTING AND FOG-SIGNALS.

  1. Barrel of Butter light discontinued:
    Position.—On the Barrel of Butter, Scapa Flow, Lat. 58° 53 1/2' N., long. 3° 7 1/2' W.
    Description.—A fixed red light.
