Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

Wellington, 13th December, 1920.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Board of the Mangaorongo Road District, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

MANGAORONGO ROAD BOARD.

Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Special Loan of £5,850.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Mangaorongo Road District was taken on the 4th day of December, 1920, on the proposal of the Mangaorongo Road Board to borrow the sum of £5,850 for the following purposes :—

(1.) £3,000 to be spent in reforming, cultivating, and metalling portions of the main road as under,—

(a.) From McLuckie’s corner, where the metal now ends, to the boundary between the Mangaorongo Road District and the Waitomo County; and

(b.) From the end of the metalling at Chiles’s gate in a southerly direction to the top of the deviation as far as the money will permit.

(2.) £2,850 to be spent in forming and metalling the new main road along the Waipa River to Otorohanga, in conjunction with the Waitomo County Council, which is raising a further special loan for the same purpose.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 44, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was nil; informal votes, 1.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Council of the Borough of New Plymouth, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

BOROUGH OF NEW PLYMOUTH.

Result of Poll to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of New Plymouth was taken on the 1st day of December, 1920, on a proposal to raise a special loan of £60,000 for the following purposes :—

The particular purposes for which the loan is required are,—

(a.) To provide additions and extensions to the Council’s electric lighting and power works, either within or without the borough ;

(b.) To supply electricity ;

(c.) To acquire or provide in connection with such additions and extensions, lands, easements, and appurtenances, and buildings, tunnels, weirs, reservoirs, engines, machinery, and other things ;

(d.) To acquire or provide in connection with the Council’s electric lighting and power works, and such additions and extensions, lands and buildings for the purpose of workers’ dwellings within the meaning of section 325 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and generally to exercise the powers conferred by the said section 325 ;

(e.) To pay compensation to any person or persons injuriously affected ;

(f.) Any other purposes incidental or in relation to any of the above-mentioned purposes.

The sum proposed to be borrowed for all such purposes is £60,000, at a rate of interest not exceeding £5 10s. per centum per annum, with a sinking fund of 1½ per centum additional. The proposed security for the said loan of £60,000, and the interest and sinking fund thereon, is an annually recurring special rate of 1d. in the pound on the rateable value of all rateable property in the said borough, and it is proposed to repay the said loan on the 1st day of April, 1933. It is proposed to pay out of the said loan the cost of raising the said loan, and the interest and sinking fund thereon for the first year.

The number of valid votes recorded for the proposal was 594, and the number of valid votes recorded against the proposal was 95. The total number of valid votes recorded was 689.

I therefore declare the said proposal carried.

AMENDMENTS AND ADDITIONS TO RULES.

RULE 66 altered to read :—

Brokerage on N.Z. Government Debentures—
On the first £1,000 : ½ per cent. on face value.
On excess over £1,000 : ¼ per cent. on face value.

Also add as follows : —

Brokerage on rights to new issues of shares—
To sellers, the ordinary rates of brokerage on the price of rights.
To buyers, the ordinary rates of brokerage on the price of rights plus the cost of conversion into transferable shares.

Rule 115 (country members) amended by making the annual subscription £5 5s. instead of £2 2s.

NEW RULES.

87A. That all bonds and documents are at the seller’s risk until delivered to the buyer.

95A. That all dealings in shares be ex dividend on the day the dividend is payable.

Special Order made by the Longbeach Road Board making By-laws.

LONGBEACH ROAD BOARD.

Special Order.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon it by the Road Boards Act, 1908, the Longbeach Road Board doth hereby make the following by-law, which shall apply to all the roads under its control :—

It shall not be lawful for any person at any time to cut grass for seed on any road under the control of the Longbeach Road Board without the previous consent in writing of the said Board.

Any person who shall commit a breach of this by-law shall for every such offence be liable to a fine not exceeding £10.

The common seal of the inhabitants of the Longbeach Road District was hereunto affixed, by order of the Longbeach Road Board, by William James Anderson and Joseph Patrick McQuilkin, members of the said Board, in the presence of Alfred Augustus Fooks, Clerk to the Longbeach Road Board.
