PENALTIES.

  1. If any person fails or refuses or neglects to do any thing by these regulations required to be done, observed, or performed, or in any manner obstructs, impedes, or interferes with the doing of any thing enjoined, required, or authorized to be done, or does anything prohibited by these regulations, he shall in each and every case so offending be liable to a penalty not exceeding £5.

Partial Revocation of an Order in Council under Section 296 of the Native Land Act, 1909.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this fifteenth day of December, 1919.

Present :

THE HONOURABLE SIR WILLIAM FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section two hundred and ninety-six of the Native Land Act, 1909, it is enacted that any Order in Council made under Part XVI of that Act, or under Part II of the Native Land Settlement Act, 1907, may be at any time revoked, either wholly or as to any part or parts of the land included therein, by the Governor-General by Order in Council :

And whereas the block or parcel of land known as Puhatikotiko 1b 2b became subject, by virtue of an Order in Council dated the thirtieth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and nine, to the provisions of Part XVI of the Native Land Act, 1909 :

And whereas the Tairawhiti District Maori Land Board has recommended that Puhatikotiko 1b 2b 3, being a portion of such land, be no longer subject to Part XVI aforesaid :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke the said Order in Council dated the thirtieth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and nine, in so far as such Order in Council affects Puhatikotiko 1b 2b 3.

Prescribing Times and Manner in which Crews of Ships are to be exercised in Boat Drill.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-third day of December, 1919.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS it is enacted by the fifteenth section of the Shipping and Seamen Amendment Act, 1912, that the master of every intercolonial or home-trade ship shall cause his crew to be properly exercised in boat drill at such times and in such manner as may from time to time be prescribed by regulations made by the Governor-General in Council :

And whereas it is desirable to prescribe such regulations :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the hereinbefore-recited power and authority, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the following regulations.


REGULATIONS.

  1. THE master of every intercolonial or home-trade ship shall—

(a.) Cause his crew to be properly exercised in boat drill once at least in each month in the case of home-trade ships, and in the case of intercolonial ships at least in the course of each round voyage.

(b.) Satisfy himself that the boat equipments and the receptacles containing the provisions in the boats are in their place and in good order, and that the receptacles are properly closed.

(c.) Cause an entry to be made in the official log of the date of each drill, the time of its commencement, and the time of its termination, and also of the fact that the equipments and the receptacles containing the provisions in the boats were examined by him,

and were found to be in good order or otherwise, and that such receptacles were (or were not, as the case may be) properly closed. If a Surveyor of Ships is not satisfied that the receptacles are properly closed, he may direct the master as to how they are to be closed, and the master shall forthwith see that effect is given to his directions.

(d.) Permit any Superintendent or Surveyor, or any Collector or other officer of Customs, to be present at any drill, and to inspect any entry made in the official log, in pursuance of section 15 of the hereinbefore-recited Act.

  1. Every master who fails to comply faithfully with the foregoing regulations is liable to a fine not exceeding £50.

Prohibiting the Exportation of Coined Silver.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this fifteenth day of December, 1919.

THE HONOURABLE SIR WILLIAM FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section forty-seven of the Customs Act, 1913, as extended by section twenty-four of the Regulation of Trade and Commerce Act, 1914, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time, by Order in Council gazetted, prohibit the exportation of any goods the prohibition of the exportation of which is in his opinion necessary in the public interest :

And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor-General, it is necessary in the public interest that the exportation of coined silver should be prohibited to the extent and in the manner hereinafter appearing :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section forty-seven of the Customs Act, 1913, and section twenty-four of the Regulation of Trade and Commerce Act, 1914, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of that Dominion, doth hereby prohibit the exportation of coined silver from the said Dominion, save with the consent of the Minister of Customs.

Prohibiting Trawling in a Portion of the Hauraki Gulf.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-third day of December, 1919.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS it is enacted by the fifth section of the Fisheries Act, 1908 (hereinafter called “the said Act”), that the Governor-General may from time to time, by Order in Council gazetted, make regulations imposing conditions and restrictions on the taking of fish, and for prohibiting the use of any specified engines, tackles, or apparatus for taking the same :

And whereas by Order in Council dated the twentieth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 125, of the twenty-third day of the same month, regulations were made prohibiting trawling in a portion of the Hauraki Gulf :

And whereas it is desirable to revoke such regulations, and to make other regulations in lieu thereof :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the power and authority conferred by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke the said Order in Council of the twentieth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, and the regulations made thereby, and doth hereby make the following regulations.
