Education Act.—Amendments in the Regulations for Training Colleges.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-third day of December, 1919.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the Education Act, 1914, and its amendments, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the following amendments in the regulations in force for training colleges, and doth prescribe that this Order shall come into force on the date of the first publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

AMENDMENTS.

CLAUSE 7 (2) (i) hereof is hereby amended by the deletion of the words “Headmaster . . . supervisor of students, and shall” and by the substitution therefor of the words “Headmaster who shall act as supervisor of students practising in his school, and who shall also, if required, act as lecturer on Method or some other suitable subject or subjects of the curriculum of students. The headmaster shall”; and by the addition of the following, “Provided that in these regulations the term ‘headmaster’ shall be deemed to include the term ‘headmistress.’”

Clause 7 is further amended by adding to subclause (3) the following: “Provided that where circumstances render it advisable the staffing and salaries for a normal school as prescribed in this clause may, with the approval of the Minister, be temporarily modified.”

Clause 8 (2) is amended by the deletion of the words “and physical”; and is further amended by the addition of the following words, “Provided that with the approval of the Minister an additional grant of a sum not exceeding £100 per annum may be paid to the Board to provide for clerical assistance in the training college.”

Clause 25 (e) is amended by the deletion of the words “two hundred hours in each year,” and the substitution therefor of the words “four hundred hours in the two years of the course.”

Adding an Office to the Administrative Division of the Public Service.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this fifteenth day of December, 1919.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE SIR WILLIAM FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by subsection two of section eighteen of the Public Service Act, 1912, it is enacted that the Commissioner may, whenever it appears advantageous to the Public Service so to do, certify to the Governor-General that it is expedient to add any office to or to abolish any office from the Administrative Division of the Public Service of New Zealand; and the Governor-General in Council may, upon such certificate, add any office to the Administrative Division or abolish any office therein:

And whereas the Public Service Commissioner has certified to the Governor-General that it is expedient to add the office of Under-Secretary of Mines to the said Administrative Division:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by the said section, and of all other powers enabling him in this behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby add the office of Under-Secretary of Mines to the said Administrative Division.
