Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby extend for a further period of six months the Order in Council dated the thirteenth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, and gazetted the fifteenth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, prohibiting all alienation of the Native land specified in the Schedule hereto other than alienation in favour of the Crown.

Vesting the Control of a Reserve in the Croydon Public Hall Board.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this eleventh day of August, 1919.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto was by Warrant published in Gazette of the twentieth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, permanently reserved for a site for a public hall: And whereas it is expedient that the control of the said reserve should be vested in a special Board as hereinafter provided:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section two of the Public Reserves and Domains Amendment Act, 1914, doth hereby vest the control of the reserve described in the Schedule hereto, for the period of five years from the date hereof (unless previously amended or revoked under the said Act), in the undermentioned persons, namely,—

GEORGE BIGGAR,
JAMES FRASER GRANT,
THOMAS HEWLETT,
JOHN ALPHONSE MACDONALD, and
JOHN TUACH,

who are hereby constituted for that purpose a special Board by the name of the Croydon Public Hall Board (hereinafter referred to as “the Board”), with the powers and subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say:—

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on the last Saturday in each month at 7.30 o’clock p.m. at the Croydon Public Hall, or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall be held on Saturday, the 30th day of August, 1919.

  2. The members of the Board shall at their first meeting, and thereafter at the annual meeting hereinafter mentioned, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.

  3. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman, provided that two days’ notice of any such meeting is given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting; and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

  4. Any three members of the Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  5. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose one of their number to be Chairman of such meeting.

  6. If by resignation, death, incapacity, or otherwise the seat of any member shall be or become vacant, or if any member absents himself without reasonable cause from three consecutive meetings of the Board, the Governor-General shall have power to appoint any other person to be a member of the Board in his stead.

  7. All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

  8. The Board shall have prepared and submitted at an annual meeting to be held in the month of April in each year a report of the proceedings of the Board for the previous year ending on the 31st day of March, together with a statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Board for such year. A copy of every such report and statement, certified by the Chairman to be correct, shall be sent to the Minister of Lands as soon as possible after each annual meeting.

  9. The Board shall control the said reserve and the building erected thereon for the purposes of a public hall, and shall also afford settlers and residents of Croydon and the surrounding district such facilities for meeting within the said hall as may from time to time be determined by the Board; provided that the Board shall have power to fix reasonable charges for the use of the said hall.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre, more or less, being part Section 122, Block LXXI, Hokonui Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by a public road, 500 links; towards the north-east by part Section 122, Block LXXI aforesaid, 205·12 links; towards the south-east by part Section 122 aforesaid, 500 links; and towards the south-west by a public road, 205·12 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 22/690, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Extending Close Season for Seals.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this fifth day of August, 1919.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS it is enacted by section five of the Fisheries Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), that the Governor-General may from time to time, by Order in Council gazetted, make regulations which shall have force and effect either throughout New Zealand or only in such waters or places as are specified in the regulations, for, among other things, prescribing a close season not exceeding three years for seals, and, before the expiration of such term, further extending the same:

And whereas by Order in Council dated the twenty-seventh day of November, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 135, of the first day of December following, a period of three years from the date of the said Order in Council was prescribed as a close season for seals:

And whereas it is desirable to further extend the said period:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by the herein-before-recited section of the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the regulations set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

THE close season of three years for seals, prescribed by the hereinbefore-recited Order in Council, is hereby further extended for a period of three years from the 27th day of November, 1919.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by section four of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

PATRICK FORRESTER

to be a trustee, in the place of Edwin Berridge, resigned, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Mangamingi Public Cemetery, in conjunction with John Granville, Albert Turner, Joseph Best, and Robert Smith Brown, previously appointed.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this seventh day of August, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen.
