LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
By his Deputy,
ROBERT STOUT.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this eighth day
of July, 1919.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the Kairanga County Council lately pro-
posed to raise a loan of one thousand pounds sterling,
under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, for the purpose of
renewing the culverts and bridges in the Fitzherbert Riding :
And whereas the provisions of section nine of the Local
Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, have not been complied with, inas-
much as the notice to raise the said loan required by that
section, although published four times, was not published
once in each week for four successive weeks :
And whereas such publications were not made in the same
newspaper as is required under the said Act :
And whereas the purpose of the loan was inadvertently
stated on the voting-paper used at the poll of ratepayers on
the above proposal to be for the purpose of renewing culverts
and bridges in the Taonui Riding, instead of for the purpose
of renewing culverts and bridges in the Fitzherbert Riding :
And whereas it appears that the ratepayers have not been
misled by such irregularities, and it is expedient to validate
the same :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise
of the powers conferred by section one hundred and eleven
of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
Dominion, doth hereby validate the public notification of
intention and the voting-paper used in connection with the
said loan, and doth hereby declare that the proceedings
relative to such loan shall not be called into question by reason
only of the irregularities aforesaid.

F. W. FURBY,
Acting Clerk of the Executive Council.
