The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and In-
habitants of the County of Cook was hereto affixed in the
presence of--

In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1908, and in the
matter of the Counties Act, 1908.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Wairoa County Council
proposes, under the provisions of the above-entitled
Acts, to execute a certain public work--namely, the forma-
tion and construction of a public road at Waiatai; and for
that purpose the following land is required to be taken-
namely, 3 acres 2 roods 34.3 perches, more or less, being
portion of the block known as Tukemokihi 3D, situate in
Block Two of the Clyde Survey District, as the same is
delineated in a plan filed in the office of the Chief Surveyor
at Napier under Number 618, green, and therein coloured red.
And notice is likewise given that a plan of the said land is
deposited at the office of the said Council in Queen Street
in the Borough of Wairoa, and is open for inspection (without
fee) by all persons during ordinary office hours.
All persons affected are called upon to set forth in writing
any well-grounded objections they may have to the execu-
tion of the said public work or to the taking of the said land,
and to send such writing, within forty days from the first
publication of this notice, to the County Clerk at the office
of the Council aforesaid.

RESOLUTION.
THE following regulations were laid before the members of
the Geraldine Racing Club at a meeting held on the
4th day of June, 1919, at Geraldine, with a recommenda-
tion by the Chairman of the Club, Mr. J. Kennedy, that the
same be passed at once with a view to their approval by the
Governor-General, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908,
section 33.
Mr. J. Kennedy, the Chairman of the Club and the meeting,
moved, and Mr. A. G. Macdonald seconded, and it was re-
solved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the
Chairman be authorized to sign the same in authentication
thereof.
The following are the regulations referred to :-
GERALDINE RACING CLUB.
REGULATIONS.
(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)
In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf con-
tained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all
other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the
Geraldine Racing Club, a racing club within the meaning
of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as "the said club"),
doith hereby revoke the regulations dated the 20th day of
September, 1906, also the regulations made 29th May, 1912,
and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the following regulations
controlling the admission of persons to that part of the race-
course situated in the district of Orari, and known as the
Geraldine Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or
occupied by the said club for race meetings.

These regulations shall come into force on the date of
the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette. -
In these regulations the words "bookmaker," "racing
club," and "race meeting" shall have the meanings ascribed
to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, -
The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded
from the racecourse above described while the same is used
or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely :-
(a.) Bookmakers.
(b.) Bookmakersβ clerks, bookmakersβ assistants, and
bookmakers' agents.
(c.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any
racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New
Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or else-
where, if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing
Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Associa-
tion, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference.
(d.) Common prostitutes and persons who habitually con-
sort with thieves or persons who have no lawful
visible means of support.
(e.) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house-
breaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or
possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences,
receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any
offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act,
1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues

and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted
under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons
convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908.
The foregoing regulations of the Geraldine Racing Club were
made and passed by the Geraldine Racing Club on the 4th
day of June, 1919, and signed by the Chairman and Secre-
tary.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.
In the matter of the Counties Act, 1908, and in the matter
of the Public Works Act, 1908.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Whakatane County
Council proposes, under the provisions of the above-
mentioned Acts, to execute a certain public work--namely,
roads and drains ; and for the purpose of such public work
the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be
taken.
And notice is hereby further given that plans of the said
land so required are deposited in the Council Chambers at
Whakatane, and are open for inspection (without fee) by all
persons during office hours. All persons effected by the
execution of the said public work or by the taking of such
lands, who have any well-grounded objections thereto, must
state their objections in writing, and send the same, within
forty (40) days from the first publication of this notice, to the
County Clerk at the Whakatane County Council Chambers,
Whakatane.
