WANGANUI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Notice under Section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.
I HEREBY publicly notify that at a poll taken on the 30th day of April, 1919, on the proposal of the Wanganui Borough Council to borrow the sum of £22,000 for the following purposes and for matters incidental or relating thereto, that is to say,—
-
For laying down in concrete or other permanent material the street in the Borough of Wanganui known as Taupo Quay for a distance commencing at the junction of the said street with Victoria Avenue to the point where the Government railway-line crosses the said street; and for tar macadamizing or laying down in other permanent material the tram-line running along the said street for the distance aforesaid; and the supply or providing of all material, appliances, matters, and things necessary, incident, or relating thereto—£4,000:

The making, constructing, and finishing of a street, or deviating or altering the existing street, in the borough at the intersection of the Great North-western Road and the New Zealand Government line of railway at the junction of the said Great North-western Road and Victoria Avenue; and the making, construction, erection, and completion of an overhead traffic-bridge on the Great North-western Road rendered necessary by the deviation of the said railway-line by the New Zealand Government at the intersection aforesaid; and the supply or providing of all material, appliances, matters, and things necessary, incident, or relating thereto—£3,600:

The making, constructing, erecting, and completing of an overhead traffic-bridge at the intersection of Glasgow Street Extension and the New Zealand Government line of railway rendered necessary by the deviation of the line of railway at the intersection aforesaid; and the providing, constructing, and making of approaches to such traffic-bridge; and the providing or supplying of all material, appliances, matters, and things necessary, incident, or relating thereto—£500:

The widening of the street in the borough known as the Great North-western Road; and such forming, grading, making, and metalling as is rendered necessary by such widening; and the supplying or providing of all material, appliances, matters, and things necessary, incident, or relating thereto—£1,500:

The formation, making, and completing of footpaths in the said borough, and of all curbing, water-channels, and other works, matters, and things necessary, expedient, or usual in connection therewith—£4,480:

The redecking of the Wanganui Town Bridge; and the providing or supplying of all material, plant, matters, and things necessary, incident, or relating thereto—£600:

The laying-down in concrete, tar macadam, or other permanent material of various streets in that portion of the borough known as Wanganui East; and the providing or supplying of all material, appliances, matters, and things necessary, incident, or relating thereto—£2,000:

The construction, making, forming, and metalling of streets in that portion of the borough known as Aramoho, and of all works and things necessary or usual or convenient in connection therewith—£2,200:

The regrading, constructing, forming, metalling, and completing of the street situate in the borough and known as the Number 2 Line of Road, and of all works and things necessary or convenient or usual in connection therewith—£2,000:

For matters incidental or relating to all, any, either, or each of the above-mentioned purposes—£1,120,—
the following votes were recorded: For the proposal, 1,171; against the proposal, 711; informal, 159.
I therefore declare the proposal carried.

WANGANUI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Notice under Section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.
I HEREBY publicly notify that at a poll taken on the 30th day of April, 1919, on the proposal of the Wanganui Borough Council to borrow the sum of £45,000 for the following purposes and to matters incidental or relating thereto, that is to say,—

The extension so as to increase the holding-capacity thereof of the Westmere Reservoir, situate at Westmere, and the completion of such extension; and the supply of all machinery, plant, material, appliances, matters, and things necessary, incident, or relating to such extension and completion—£4,000:

The lining with brick or concrete for the purpose of protecting the same from subsidence, injury, or damage, and the protecting from injury or damage of the water-pipes running through the same, of the tunnels forming part of the pipe-track leading from the Okehu Dam along the Okehu Valley and Rangitatau East Road; and the supply and providing of all machinery, material, plant, appliances, matters, and things necessary, incident, or relating thereto—£6,600:

Raising the Okehu Dam for the purpose of increasing the storage capacity thereof; and the making and completing of any works in connection with the Okehu Water-supply; and the supply or providing of all machinery, plant, material, appliances, matters, and things necessary, incident, or relating thereto—£8,000:

The construction, making, and completing of a water-tower on “Bastia Hill” for the purpose of supplying those portions of the borough known as Durietown and Bastia Hill District with a more efficient water-supply, and the providing of a reserve supply for the Town of Wanganui; and the supply or providing of all machinery, material, plant, appliances, matters, and things necessary, incident, or relating thereto—£7,500:

The providing, supplying, and laying of a water-main from the main supplying or feeding the Westmere Reservoir to the water-tower to be erected on Bastia Hill; and the supply or providing of all machinery, material, plant, appliances, matters, and things necessary, incident, or relating thereto—£11,550:

The providing, supplying, and laying of water-mains or pipes from Bastia Tower to Durietown and the town mains, and the connecting of such mains or pipes with the town mains, for the carriage or reticulation of water; and the supply or providing of all machinery, material, plant, appliances, matters, and things necessary, incident, or relating thereto—£2,500:

For matters incidental or relating to all, any, either, or each of the above-mentioned purposes—£4,850,—
the following votes were recorded: For the proposal, 922; against the proposal, 947; informal, 171.
I therefore declare the proposal rejected.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

PIAKO COUNTY COUNCIL.
Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Stanley Road Special Rating Area in the above county was taken on the 21st day of May, 1919, on the proposal of the Piako County Council to borrow the sum of £19,000 for concreting and metalling roads in the said special rating area.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 102, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 42.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

WAIROA COUNTY COUNCIL.
Result of Poll.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, it is hereby publicly notified that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Mohaka Riding taken on Saturday, 10th May, 1919, on the proposal of the Wairoa County Council to raise the sum of £1,000 by way of loan for public works in the riding, the number of votes recorded was as follows: For the proposal, 60; against the proposal, 29; informal, 3.
There being more than the three-fifths majority of valid votes in favour of the proposal, I therefore declare the proposal carried.
