IN THE SUPREME COURT OF NEW ZEALAND,
OTAGO AND SOUTHLAND DISTRICT.
In the matter of the Companies Act, 1908; and in the matter of J. Coutts AND COMPANY (LIMITED).
NOTICE is hereby given that a petition for the winding-up of the above-named company by the Supreme Court was, on the 2nd day of June, 1919, presented to the Honourable William Alexander Sim, a Judge of the Supreme Court, by Hogg and Company (Limited), a company duly incorporated under the Companies Act, 1908, and having its registered office in Dunedin, in the Provincial District of Otago and Dominion of New Zealand, and carrying on business there as Timber-merchants, a creditor of the said J. Coutts and Company (Limited); and the said petition is directed to be heard before a Judge of the said Court on the 20th day of June, 1919; and any creditor or contributory of the said J. Coutts and Company (Limited) desirous to oppose the making of an order for the winding-up of the said J. Coutts and Company (Limited) under the above Act should appear at the time of hearing, by himself or his counsel, for that purpose; and a copy of the petition will be furnished to any creditor or contributory of the said J. Coutts and Company (Limited) requiring the same, by the undersigned, on payment of the regulated charge for the same.

WHANGAREI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
EXTRACT FROM THE MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS AT A MEETING HELD ON THE 26TH DAY OF MAY, 1919.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and of all other powers (if any) it thereunto enabling, the Whangarei Borough Council hereby resolves at follows :—
That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of interest, sinking fund, and other charges on the Kensington Park Loan of £2,500, 1919, authorized to be raised by the Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of acquiring properties situate at Whangarei known as Kensington Park, the said Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-eighth of a penny in the pound sterling on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Borough of Whangarei; and that such rate (special) shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty (20) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
The common seal of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Whangarei was hereto affixed at the office of and pursuant to a resolution of the Whangarei Borough Council, in the presence of—

AWAKINO COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION STRIKING SPECIAL RATE.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and of all other powers (if any) it thereunto enabling, the Awakino County Council hereby resolves as follows :—
That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of interest, sinking fund, and other charges on the Marakopa Riding Roads Improvement Loan of £400, 1919, authorized to be raised by the said Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of maintaining, renewing, and generally improving the roads in the Marakopa Riding of the said county, the said Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of three-sixteenths of a penny in the pound sterling on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Marakopa Riding; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st June during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and one-half years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
We hereby certify that the above is a true copy of and a correct extract from the minutes of proceedings of the Awakino County Council at a meeting held on Saturday, the third day of May, 1919.

In the matter of the Companies Act, 1908; and in the matter of BUCHANAN AND CO. (LIMITED).
NOTICE is hereby given that at an extraordinary general meeting of the members of the above-named company duly convened and held at Albert Street, Auckland, on the 12th May, 1919, the following special regulations were passed, and at a further extraordinary general meeting of the said company convened and held at Albert Street, Auckland, on the 30th May, 1919, the said resolutions were confirmed, viz. :—
- “That the company be wound up voluntarily.”
- “That EDWARD ARTHUR PRICE, Esq., Managing Director, of Albert Street, Auckland, be and is hereby appointed Liquidator for the purpose of such winding-up, and that the Liquidator’s remuneration be fixed by way of a percentage calculated from time to time upon the gross proceeds from realization, and such percentage be at the rate of 2½ per cent.; and that an Advisory Committee for purposes of reference, consisting of Messrs. JAS. COE and W. COLTMAN, be appointed to assist the Liquidator at a remuneration of £50 each for the term of the Liquidation.”
