Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the portion of road described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, become a Government road.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the portion of road declared to be a Government road: 7 acres 0 roods 17 perches.
Adjoining or passing through Sections 12 and 13, Block IV, Lower Wanaka Survey District.

In the Otago Land District; as the said portion of road is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 45682, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured green.

Imposing Duty on Tractors driven by Gas, Oil, or Electricity, suited for Use in Stores or Warehouses or upon Wharves or Pavements, or for Similar Use.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this tenth day of June, 1919.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS tractors driven by gas, oil, or electricity, suited for use in stores or warehouses or upon wharves or pavements, or for similar use, are not specially enumerated in the Tariff, and are, in the opinion of the Minister of Customs, a substitute for motor vehicles for road traffic not otherwise enumerated, including motor-cars and motor-carriages, within the meaning of section one hundred and thirty-five of the Customs Act, 1913 :

And whereas such motor vehicles for road traffic not otherwise enumerated, including motor-cars and motor-carriages, are chargeable with duty at the rate of ten per centum ad valorem if the produce or manufacture of some part of the British Dominions, and twenty per centum ad valorem if not the produce or manufacture of such Dominions, and in addition thereto are chargeable with primage duty at the rate of one per centum ad valorem :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section one hundred and thirty-five of the Customs Act, 1913, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of that Dominion, doth hereby declare that tractors driven by gas, oil, or electricity, suited for use in stores or warehouses or upon wharves or pavements, or for similar use, shall be charged with the duty chargeable on motor vehicles for road traffic not otherwise enumerated, including motor-cars and motor-carriages.

Public Service Act, 1912, not to apply to certain Officers.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this second day of June, 1919.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section four of the Public Service Act, 1912, it is enacted that nothing in that Act shall apply to any officer or class of officers to whom or to which, on the recommendation of and for special reasons assigned by the Commissioner, the Governor-General in Council declares that the said Act shall not apply :

And whereas the Commissioner has recommended that the said Act should not apply to the officers described in the Schedule hereto for the special reasons assigned by him :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that nothing in the Public Service Act, 1912, shall apply to the officers described in the Schedule hereto.

Prohibiting all Alienation of certain Native Land other than Alienation in favour of the Crown.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this tenth day of June, 1919.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

ON the recommendation of the Native Land Purchase Board, referred to in section three hundred and sixty-three of the Native Land Act, 1909, and in exercise of the power in this behalf conferred upon him by that section, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby prohibit, for the period of one year from the date of this Order in Council, all alienation of the Native land specified in the Schedule hereto other than alienation in favour of the Crown.
