SOUTH COAST.-FALMOUTH BAY.-AMENDED POSITION OF
WRECK.-WRECK-MARKING LIGHT-BUOY ESTABLISHED.
Former Notice.-No. 495 of 1918.
(a.) Wreck:
Position.-At a distance of about $2\frac{1}{2}$ cables south-
eastward of former charted position. Lat. $50^\circ 7' 6''$
N., long. $5^\circ 2' 50''$ W.
Description.-Sunken wreck of a steamer, with masts
showing above water.
(b.) Light-buoy:
Position.-At a distance of about 120 yards south-
eastward from the wreck.
Description.-A green wreck-marking light-buoy, ex-
hibiting a flashing green light every five seconds.
Remarks.-The unlighted green wreck-marking buoy,
formerly situated at a distance of about one cable south-
eastward from the wreck, has been withdrawn.
WEST COAST.-SCILLY ISLES.-PENNINIS HEAD.-FOG-
SIGNAL TO BE DISCONTINUED.
Former Notice.-No. 412 of 1918.
Position.-Lat. $49^\circ 54\frac{1}{4}'$ N., long. $6^\circ 18\frac{1}{4}'$ W.
Description.-A siren.
Remarks.-This fog-signal will be discontinued on and
after 1st April, 1919.
Note.-No further notice will be given.
SOUTH AFRICA.
CAPE OF GOOD HOPE.
(1.) Slang Kop Point.-Light established.
Position.-At a distance of about 3 cables southward of
the wireless masts. Lat. $34^\circ 9'$ S., long. $18^\circ 19' 20''$ E., on
Chart No. 636.
Abridged Description.-Lt. gp. fl. (4), ev. 20 secs., 135 ft.,
viz. 17 m.
Details :
Character.-A group flashing white light showing a group
of four flashes every twenty seconds-thus, flash 0·4 sec.,
eclipse 2·6 secs.; flash 0·4 sec., eclipse 2·6 secs.;
flash 0·4 sec., eclipse 2·6 secs.; flash 0·4 sec., eclipse
10·6 secs.
Elevation.-135 feet.
Visibility.-17 miles.
Power.-500,000 candles.
Structure.-White circular iron tower, 108 ft. in height.
(2.) Cape Point.-New Light established.
(a.) Main light :
Position.-At end of Cape Point, about $2\frac{1}{2}$ cables
south-eastward from the present light, which has
been discontinued. Lat. $34^\circ 21' 16''$ S., long.
$18^\circ 29' 50''$ E., on Chart No. 636.
Abridged Description.-Lt. gp. fl. (3), ev. 20 secs.,
286 ft., vis. 23 m.
Details :
Character.-A group flashing white light showing a
group of three flashes every twenty seconds-thus,
flash 0·4 sec., eclipse 2·4 secs.; flash 0·4 sec.,
eclipse 8·2 secs.; flash 0·4 sec., eclipse 8·2 secs.
Elevation.-286 ft.
Visibility.-23 miles; obscured by land from $82^\circ$
(S. $71^\circ$ E. mag.), through east, to $152^\circ$ (S. $1^\circ$ E.
mag.).
Power.-500,000 candles.
Structure.-Square masonry tower, 30 ft. in height.
CANADA.
NOVA SCOTIA.-HALIFAX.-GEORGE ISLAND.-NEW LIGHT
ESTABLISHED.
Position.-At a distance of 100 yards, $151^\circ$ (S. $6^\circ$ E. mag.),
from the site of the former light, which has been discontinued.
Lat. $44^\circ 38\frac{1}{4}'$ N., long. $63^\circ 33\frac{3}{4}'$ W.
(a.) Light :
Abridged Description.-Lt. gp. occ. (2), ev. 30 secs.,
62 ft., vis. 13 m.
Characteristics :
Character.-A group occulting white light showing
two eclipses every thirty seconds-thus, light 6 secs.,
eclipse 3 secs.; light 18 secs., eclipse 3 secs.
Elevation.-62 ft.
Visibility.-13 miles.
Structure.-White octagonal tower with red lantern,
55 ft. in height.
Note.-Dartmouth light and the above light now bear
$339^\circ$ (N. $2^\circ$ E. mag.) when in line, and the leading-line on the
charts is to be amended accordingly.
(b.) Fog-signal :
Description.-A bell giving one stroke every ten seconds.
Variation.-$23^\circ$ W.
UNITED STATES.
ATLANTIC COAST.-NEW YORK BAY.-THE NARROWS.-
BUOY ESTABLISHED.-BUOYS WITHDRAWN.
(a.) Buoy established :
Position.-At a distance of about 14 cables northward
from Fort Wadsworth Lighthouse. Lat. $40^\circ 37' 43''$
N., long. $74^\circ 2' 57''$ W., on Chart No. 3204.
Description.-A spar buoy painted in black and red
horizontal stripes.
(b.) Buoys withdrawn :
(i.) Position.-At a distance of about 13 cables north-
ward from Fort Wadsworth Lighthouse and
about one cable south-westward from (a).
Lat. $40^\circ 37\frac{1}{2}'$ N., long. $74^\circ 3'$ W.
Description.-A spar buoy painted in red and
black horizontal stripes.
(ii.) Position.-At a distance of about $12\frac{1}{2}$ cables
northward from Fort Wadsworth Lighthouse.
Lat. $40^\circ 37\frac{1}{2}'$ N., long. $74^\circ 3\frac{3}{4}'$ W.
Description.-A spar buoy marked “A.”
(iii.) Position.-“A” buoy, lat. $40^\circ 36\frac{3}{4}'$ N., long.
$74^\circ 3'$ W.
Details.-The four white buoys situated north-
eastward from Fort Wadsworth Lighthouse
and marked “A,” “B,” “C,” and “D”
respectively have been withdrawn, and are to
be expunged from the charts.
Remarks.-The above buoys have been withdrawn and are
to be expunged from the charts.
PACIFIC COAST.-WASHINGTON.-SEATTLE HARBOUR.-LIGHT
ESTABLISHED.
Position.-On Four Mile Rock. Lat. $47^\circ 38\frac{1}{2}'$ N., long.
$122^\circ 24\frac{3}{4}'$ W.
Abridged Description.-Lt. fl., ev. 5 secs. (U).
Characteristics :
Character.-A flashing white light every five seconds-thus,
flash $\frac{1}{2}$ sec., eclipse $4\frac{1}{2}$ secs.
Structure.-Small white house.
Remarks.-The light is unwatched.
Note.-No further details are given.
PANAMA.
LIMON BAY.-CANAL ENTRANCE.-BUOYS REPLACED BY
LIGHT-BUOYS.
The following changes have been made in the buoyage of
Limon Bay :-
- Spar Buoy 9 has been replaced by Gas Buoy 9, showing
a fixed white light. - Spar Buoy 10 has been replaced by Gas Buoy 10,
showing a fixed red light.
BRAZIL.
NORTH-EAST COAST.-PIEDRAS POINT.-LIGHT ESTABLISHED.
Position.-Lat. $7^\circ 3' 30''$ S., long. $34^\circ 48' 35''$ W., on Chart
No. 890.
Abridged Description.-Lt. fl. ev. 3 secs., 210 ft., vis. 15 m.
(U).
Characteristics :
Character.-A flashing white light every three seconds-
thus, flash 0·3 sec., eclipse 2·7 secs.
Elevation.-210 ft.
Visibility.-15 miles.
Structure.-White iron framework.
Remarks.-The light is unwatched.
NORTH COAST.-RIVER PARA APPROACH.-PENTRO (BRA-
GANCA) CHANNEL.-LIGHT-BUOY ESTABLISHED.
Position.-Lat. $0^\circ 25'$ S., long. $47^\circ 55' 30''$ W.
Description.-A light-buoy exhibiting a flashing white light
every nine seconds.
Charts affected.-No. 2186, River Para ; No. 1803, Cabo
do Norte to Maranham.
Publication.-“South American Pilot,” Part I, 1911, page

NORTH PACIFIC OCEAN.
SANDWICH ISLANDS.-MAUI (MOWEE) ISLAND.-LIGHT
ESTABLISHED.
Position.-At Ahole. Lat. $20^\circ 39' 30''$ N., long. $156^\circ 4'$
$30''$ W.
Abridged Description.-Lt. fl., ev. 5 secs., 175 ft., vis. 10 m.
Characteristics :
Character.-A flashing white light every five seconds-
thus, flash 1 sec., eclipse 4 secs.
