Proposal to borrow the sum of £1,000 for kerbing and channelling: The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 62, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 200.

Proposal to borrow the sum of £1,000 for Onewa Road: The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 59, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 200.

Proposal to borrow the sum of £1,000 for Sulphur Beach: The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 80, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 180.
I therefore declare that all four proposals were rejected.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Awakino East, Mokau, and Tainui Survey Districts for Scenic Purposes.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, the Public Works Amendment Act, 1911, the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and the Scenery Preservation Amendment Act, 1910, to take the surface of the land described in the Schedule hereto, but exclusive of the subsoil thereof, for scenic purposes. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Mokau, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block IV, Waitoa Survey District, Ohinemuri County, for the Purposes of a Road.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work to wit, the construction of a road in Block IV, Waitoa Survey District, Ohinemuri County; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Paeroa, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

Notice fixing Closing-hours of Second-hand Dealers’ Shops in the Borough of Petone, under the Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the second-hand dealers’ shops in the Borough of Petone, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 9 p.m.; Friday, 9.30 p.m.; Saturday, 1 p.m.:
And whereas the Petone Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the second-hand dealers’ shops within the Borough of Petone:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Acting Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 4th day of June, 1919, all second-hand dealers’ shops in the Borough of Petone shall be closed as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 9 p.m., and on Fridays at 9.30 p.m.
The notice gazetted on the 9th day of May, 1918, fixing the closing-hours of second-hand dealers’ shops in the Borough of Petone shall be deemed to be cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

Exportation from India of Linseed, Linseed-oil, and Castor-oil
Customs Department.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the New Zealand Government has been advised that the Government of India is now in a position to consider applications for licenses for the exportation to the British overseas dominions of linseed, linseed-oil, and castor-oil.
Importers in New Zealand should arrange with their suppliers in India to apply for the necessary licenses for exportation from that country.
