Land taken for a Further Portion of the North Auckland Railway (Portion of Kirikopuni Section), and for a Road-diversion in connection therewith.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for a further portion of the North Auckland Railway (portion of Kirikopuni Section), and for a road-diversion in connection therewith:
And whereas all the conditions precedent required by law to be observed and performed prior to the taking of such land for the purposes hereinbefore specified have been observed and performed:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by section one hundred and eighty-eight of the Public Works Act, 1908, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for a further portion of the said line of railway hereinbefore specified.

Authorizing Special Investment of £3,000 of the Public Trust Office Funds.
LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twelfth day of May, 1919.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE SIR JAMES ALLEN, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the Vincent Hospital and Charitable Aid Board (hereinafter called “the said Board”), incorporated under the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1909, has applied to the Public Trustee for a loan of three thousand pounds:
And whereas the said Board, as security for the said loan, has agreed to enter into a deed of covenant with the said the Public Trustee that a contribution will be levied annually, under the provisions of section forty-one of the said Act, for the full amount of interest and principal payable by the said Board to the said the Public Trustee for the year (such security being referred to herein as “the said security”):
And whereas the said security is not one authorized by the Public Trust Office Act, 1908:
And whereas by section ninety-one of the Public Revenues Act, 1910, it is enacted that it shall be lawful to invest any part of the balance of the Public Trust Office Account in any security which shall be declared by the Governor by Order in Council to be securities in which such balance may be invested:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General in and for the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that it shall be lawful for the Public Trustee to invest out of the balance of the Public Trust Office Account the said sum of three thousand pounds.

Arrangements for taking Poll respecting Proposed Alteration of Borough of Thames, County of Thames.
LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-seventh day of May, 1919.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the Thames Borough Boundaries Alteration Act, 1918, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby direct that a poll shall be taken on the proposal that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be added to and form part of the Borough of Thames; and, further, doth hereby make the following appointments and arrangements for the purpose of taking the said poll:—

  1. I do hereby appoint Leonard Walter Parsons, of Thames, to be Returning Officer for the purpose of taking the said poll.
  2. And I do hereby appoint Charles David Wright, of Thames, to be the person authorized to prepare a voters roll of the persons entitled to vote at the said poll.
  3. The voters roll prepared and signed by the said Charles David Wright shall be the voters roll to be used at the said poll.
  4. Each person on such roll shall have and may exercise one vote, and no more.
  5. The omission from the voters roll of the name of any person entitled to be placed thereon, or the inclusion on such roll of the name of any person not entitled to be placed thereon, shall not invalidate either the roll or the poll.
  6. The cost of all proceedings in respect of the said poll (including the cost of preparing the roll) shall be defrayed and borne by the Thames Borough Council and the Thames County Council in equal shares.
  7. The said poll shall be taken on Thursday, the nineteenth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, at polling-booths situated in the following places—namely, the Tararu Schoolhouse; the Miners’ Union Hall, Thames; the Protestant Alliance Hall, Mary Street, Thames; Silcock’s Shop, Pollen Street, Thames; and the Schoolhouse, Parawai; and shall close at seven o’clock in the afternoon of that day.
  8. Except as herein provided, the said poll shall be taken as nearly as may be in the manner provided by the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1908, and the Returning Officer hereby appointed shall be deemed to be a Returning Officer appointed for the purposes of that Act.
