N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

Major-General Robert Samuel Findlay Henderson, C.B., M.B., K.H.P., A.M.S., Royal Army Medical Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Director-General of Medical Services, with effect from 28th March, 1919.

Lieutenant-Colonel Donald Johnstone McGavin, C.M.G., D.S.O., M.D., F.R.C.S. Eng. (Colonel in N.Z.E.F.), is appointed Director-General of Medical Services, and granted the temporary rank of Brigadier-General whilst so employed, with effect from 5th May, 1919.

Award of Meritorious-service Medal.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve, in accordance with paragraph 12, Appendix IX, Regulations for the Military Forces of New Zealand, 1913, of the award of the Meritorious-service Medal to

Appointing Saturday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Separate District of the Borough of Hamilton.

WHEREAS by section 17 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, it is enacted that the result of every poll taken in any separate or combined district under the authority of that section shall be notified to the Minister of Labour in the manner therein provided, and the Minister shall thereupon appoint the day determined by the result of such poll as the statutory closing-day for that district :

And whereas the Town Clerk of the Borough of Hamilton has notified to me that the result of the poll taken in the separate district of the Borough of Hamilton is in favour of Saturday as the statutory closing-day in that separate district :

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred on me by the said section 17, I, William Herbert Herries, Acting Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the separate district of the Borough of Hamilton.

Dated at Wellington this 22nd day of May, 1919.

NOTE.—This notice takes effect from the 1st day of June, 1919, and continues in force till another day is appointed by a similar poll [section 17 (11)].
