Notifying the Proposed Exchange of Crown Land in the
Auckland Land District for other Land.


LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and forty-two of
the Land Act, 1908, as amended by section seventeen
of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1913, it is enacted that
it shall be lawful for the Governor-General, whenever he
deems it expedient in the public interest, to grant in fee-
simple any area of Crown land which is subject to the
provisions of the Land Act, 1908, in exchange for the fee-
simple of any other land, and on any such exchange to pay
or receive by way of equality of exchange any sum not
exceeding twenty-five per centum of the estimated value of
the Crown land so granted :

And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor-General, it
is expedient to exchange the Crown land described in the
First Schedule hereto for the land of equal value described
in the Second Schedule hereto, and the owner of the land
described in the Second Schedule has agreed to such
exchange :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the aforesaid
powers and authorities, doth hereby declare that it is his
intention to grant in fee-simple the area of Crown land
described in the First Schedule hereto in exchange for the
fee-simple of the land described in the Second Schedule.


FIRST SCHEDULE.

DESCRIPTION OF CROWN LAND AUTHORIZED TO BE
EXCHANGED.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by
admeasurement 1 acre 1 rood 20 perches, more or less, being
Allotment 349, Parish of Mangapiko. Bounded towards the
north-east by a road forming the south-western boundary of
Allotment 70, Mangapiko Parish, 645·6 links; towards the
south-east by a road forming the north-western boundary of
Allotment 334 of the aforesaid parish, 482·5 links; and
towards the north-west by a road forming the south-eastern
boundary of Allotment 25 of the aforesaid parish, 969·6
links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the
same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 22/1618B,
deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and
Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. (Auckland
Plan No. 18739.)


SECOND SCHEDULE.

DESCRIPTION OF LAND TO BE OBTAINED IN EXCHANGE
THEREFOR.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by
admeasurement 2 acres 0 roods 6·4 perches, more or less,
being part of Allotment 70, Parish of Mangapiko. Bounded
towards the north-east by a road, 510 links; towards the
south-east, south-west, and north-east by other part of the
said Allotment 70, 300, 547·8, and 500 links respectively:
be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is
delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 22/1618A, deposited
in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at
Wellington, and thereon edged red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this seventeenth day of January, one
thousand nine hundred and nineteen.

Opening National Endowment Lands in Nelson Land Dis-
trict for Selection by Discharged Soldiers on Renewable
Lease.


LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur
William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare
that the national endowment lands described in the Schedule
hereto, which have been set apart for selection by discharged
soldiers, shall be open for selection by discharged soldiers on
renewable lease on Wednesday, the nineteenth day of March,
one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, at the rentals
mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare—

That the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the
provisions of the said Act and the Discharged Soldiers Settle-
ment Act, 1915 :

That, for the purposes of section one hundred and twenty-
seven of the Land Act, 1908, the said lands shall be deemed
to be “light-bush land” :

That after the first half-year’s rent has been paid by the
selector, the further instalments of rent payable by him for
a period of three years shall not be demanded; provided that
if at any time during the first five years of his occupancy the
selector disposes of his interest in the land, the rent so con-
ceded shall be paid by him in full, and thereupon the Land
Board may remit such instalments of rent payable by the
incoming tenant, not exceeding in the aggregate the amount
of rent previously conceded to the selector, as the Board
thinks fit.


SCHEDULE.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.—NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.—SECOND-
CLASS LAND.

Waimea County.—Maungatapu Survey District.

Exempt from Rent for Three Years.

SECTION 8, Block IV: Area, 1,038 acres; capital value,
£520; half-yearly rent, £10 8s.

Undulating and broken bush land, principally mixed birch,
with a few totaras. Soil fair to good. Altitude, 500 ft. to
2,000 ft. above sea-level. Fifteen miles from Hope Railway-
station by formed cart-road. Only suitable for pastoral pur-
poses.

Section 15, Block IV: Area, 606 acres; capital value,
£300; half-yearly rent, £6.

Undulating and broken bush land, two-thirds birch bush
with a few totaras, balance burnt bush lightly grassed in
parts. Soil good for the most part, limestone formation.
Altitude, 500 ft. to 1,500 ft. above sea-level. Fifteen miles
from Hope Railway-station by formed cart-road. Only suit-
able for pastoral purposes.

General, this fifteenth day of January, one thou-
sand nine hundred and nineteen.

Waimea County.—Wai-iti Survey District.

SECTION 79c, Block XVI: Area, 6 acres; capital value, £60;
half-yearly rent, £1 7s.

Weighted with £12 13s., valuation for improvements con-
sisting of 8½ chains fencing and clearing and grassing.

The whole of the section, with the exception of about an
acre, is hillside. Very easy slopes, covered with manuka,
gorse, and blackberries. Soil clay formation, and is well
suited for apple culture. Access from Wakefield Post-office
and school, by good dray-road to within ten chains of sec-
tion, balance unformed road.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this fifteenth day of January, one thou-
sand nine hundred and nineteen.
