me by section four of the Discharged Soldiers Settle-
ment Act, 1915, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of
Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the area of
settlement land described in the Schedule hereto shall be
and the same is hereby set apart and declared open for
disposal by way of sale or lease to discharged soldiers, under
special tenures, in the manner provided in the said Act.

Declaring Crown Lands in the Karamea Mining District,
Nelson Land District, open for Disposal to Discharged Soldiers
on Renewable Lease.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and thirty-three of
the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor-
General, by Proclamation, may from time to time declare any
Crown lands within any mining district not held under lease
or license, or for which a lease or license has been cancelled,
to be open for disposal, as provided in section one hundred
and thirty-five of the said Act :

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of
Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zea-
land, in exercise of the power and authority conferred upon
me by section one hundred and thirty-three of the said Act,
and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling
me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
section of land described in the Schedule hereto, which has
been set apart for selection by discharged soldiers, shall be
open on Wednesday, the nineteenth day of March, one
thousand nine hundred and nineteen, for disposal on renew-
able lease, as provided in section one hundred and thirty-five
of the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.--THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Karamea Mining District.--Takaka County.--Takaka Survey
District.

SECTION 2, Block VIII : Area, 804 acres ; capital value, £370;
half-yearly rent, £7 8s.
Weighted with £21, valuation for bushfelling.
All hill country, broken by steep limestone ridges; good
loamy soil on faces and basins; covered with birch bush
(fagus fusca), with patches of dense mixed scrub. Average
altitude, 1,700 ft. Poorly watered, creek drying up in sum-
mer time. No homestead site on section. About twelve
miles from Port of Waitapu.
