Amendments to Regulations under the Education Act, 1914.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of March, 1919.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE SIR JAMES ALLEN, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the Education Act, 1914, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the amendments set out in the Schedule hereto in the regulations in force relating to (1) The Examination and Classification of Teachers, (2) Training Colleges, and (3) Salaries of Teachers; and doth prescribe that this Order shall come into force on the date of the first publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

SCHEDULE.

AMENDMENT OF REGULATIONS RESPECTING THE EXAMINATION AND CLASSIFICATION OF TEACHERS.

  1. CLAUSE 11 of the regulations made by Order in Council dated 13th February, 1912, is hereby amended as follows:—
    (i.) By deleting in subparagraph (a) of the first paragraph the word “twenty-one,” and by substituting the word “nineteen” in lieu thereof.
    (ii.) By deleting the last paragraph of the clause.

  2. Clause 53 of the said regulations is hereby amended by omitting the word “twenty-one,” and by inserting the word “nineteen” in lieu thereof.

  3. Clause 54 of the said regulations is hereby repealed.

AMENDMENT OF REGULATIONS RESPECTING TRAINING COLLEGES.

Clause 7 of the regulations made by Order in Council dated the 21st day of December, 1914, is hereby amended by deleting the figures “£475” in paragraph (i) of subclause (2), and by substituting therefor the figures “£525.”

AMENDMENT OF REGULATIONS RESPECTING SALARIES OF TEACHERS.

Clause 13 of the regulations made by Order in Council dated the 17th day of December, 1918, is hereby amended by adding the following subclause:—
“(5.) Notwithstanding the provisions of subclause (2) hereof, for a period not exceeding two years no deduction shall be made from the salary of any uncertificated teacher or holder of a license to teach who has been a member of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force for a period of at least six months; provided that his total service as a teacher in New Zealand prior to joining the said force was not less than one year and six months, or, if he has no teaching service, he has been a student of a training college for at least one year, or has completed his term of service as a pupil-teacher or probationer. The said period of two years shall be deemed to commence as follows:—
“(a.) In the case of a teacher appointed to a new position, or a teacher resuming duty in a position from which he was granted leave of absence, as from the date on which his salary commences; provided that in any case the said period of two years shall be deemed to commence not later than three months after the date on which the teacher ceased to be a member of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force.
“(b.) In the case of a teacher already occupying a position, as from the date on which this Order comes into force.”

Change of the Name of the Morrinsville Agricultural and Pastoral Society to the Morrinsville Agricultural, Pastoral, and Horticultural Society.—Notice No. 1956

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this eighteenth day of March 1919.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE SIR JAMES ALLEN, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the Agricultural and Pastoral Societies Amendment Act, 1912, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby change the name of the society incorporated under the Agricultural and Pastoral Societies Act, 1908, under the style and title of the Morrinsville Agricultural and Pastoral Society to the Morrinsville Agricultural, Pastoral, and Horticultural Society.

Bath Street, in the City of Dunedin, exempted from the Provisions of Section 117 of the Public Works Act, 1908.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of March, 1919.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE SIR JAMES ALLEN, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by subsection one of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, it is, inter alia, provided that the said section shall not apply in any case where the local authority having control of any road or street by resolution declares that the provisions thereof shall not apply to any specified road or street, or any specified part thereof, and such resolution is approved by the Governor-General in Council:

And whereas by subsection two of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, it is provided that such approval may be either absolute or subject to such conditions with respect to the building-line as the Governor-General, by Order in Council, thinks fit to impose:

And whereas the Dunedin City Council, being the local authority having control of the street described in the Schedule hereto, has passed the following resolution—viz., “That the Council of the City of Dunedin hereby resolves that the provisions of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, shall not apply to that street in the City of Dunedin known as Bath Street, as the same is more particularly shown by red colour on the plan annexed hereto”:

And whereas it is deemed expedient that such resolution should be approved:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the above-in-part-recited Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve of the said resolution.
