WOODLANDS DRAINAGE BOARD.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Woodlands Drainage Board hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the instalments in respect of principal and interest and also the other charges on a loan of £1,000, authorized to be raised by the Woodlands Drainage Board, under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, for widening and deepening drains and providing outlet drains for that portion of the Woodlands Drainage District known as the Woodlands Special Rating Area—being all that area in the County of Waikato and Woodlands Drainage District shown on the plan of the County of Waikato as Lots 4 and 5 on a plan deposited in the Land Registry of Auckland as number 6454, and Lots 2 to 18 inclusive on a plan lodged as aforesaid as number 5548, being a portion of Blocks III, IV, VII, VIII, and XII, Komakorau Survey District—the said Woodlands Drainage Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of three farthings in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property in the above-mentioned Woodlands Special Rating Area; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of February in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I hereby certify that the above is a true copy of the resolution passed at a meeting of the Woodlands Drainage Board held on Monday, the 10th day of March, 1919.

OTAKI TOWN BOARD.

NOTICE is hereby given that on the 4th day of March, 1919, a proposal was submitted to the ratepayers of the Otaki Town Board District to rate on the unimproved value, and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For the proposal, 132; against the proposal, 44; informal, 1.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

RESOLUTION.

THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Wanganui Trotting Club at a meeting held on the 13th day of February, 1919, at Wanganui, with a recommendation by the Chairman of the Club, Mr. C. E. Mackay, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by the Governor-General, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.
Mr. C. E. Mackay, the Chairman of the Club and the Meeting, moved, and Mr. E. Lucena seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.

The following are the regulations referred to:—

WANGANUI TROTTING CLUB.

REGULATIONS.

(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Wanganui Trotting Club, a trotting club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said club”), doth hereby revoke the regulations dated the 22nd day of August, 1917, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the Borough of Wanganui situated in the district of Wanganui, and known as the Wanganui Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.

  2. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “trotting club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely,—
    (a.) Bookmakers.
    (b.) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and bookmakers’ agents.
    (c.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference.
    (d.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or with persons who have no lawful visible means of support.
    (e.) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of housebreaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908; and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908.

The foregoing regulations of the Wanganui Trotting Club were made and passed by the Wanganui Trotting Club on the 13th day of February, 1919, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.
