NOTICE is hereby given that the Commissioners appointed under section 225 of the Land Act, 1908, to classify and report upon pastoral runs in the Marlborough Land District have reported to His Excellency the Governor-General that the lands described in the Schedule hereto have been classified by them as therein noted.

SCHEDULE.
MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.
CLASS A.—Pastoral lands, being lands suitable exclusively for pasturage and not capable of being used with profit in areas of a carrying-capacity of less than 5,000 sheep :—
County of Awatere—
Run 15 (Crown land) . . . . 296 acres.
„ 16A (national endowment) . . . . 8,700 „
„ 16B „ . . . . 6,300 „
County of Marlborough—
Run 138 (Crown land) . . . . 132 „
„ 141 „ . . . . 2,213 „
„ 142 „ . . . . 1,670 „
„ 145 „ . . . . 712 „
Descriptions of Runs.
Run 15.—Area, 296 acres (B. J. Chapman, lessee). Altitude, 1,300 ft. All low hill country, practically covered in scrub, and capable of considerable improvement. Accommodation-house situated on the run. In the event of prohibition being carried this run will probably be abandoned, unless the area can be increased by adding portions of Run 16A (500 acres approximately) and from Run 16B (3,000 acres approximately), making an approximate area of 3,800 acres. This will not materially affect either Run 16A or 16B. We consider this course necessary in order to secure the continuation of the accommodation-house, which is indispensable.
Run 16A.—Area, 8,700 acres (Lewis Green, lessee). Altitude ranges from about 1,000 ft. to 5,000 ft. Lower portion consists of easy spurs covered in manuka scrub, but capable of considerable improvement. Tops consist of about one-third of practically useless country which is not likely to improve. Not suitable for further subdivision.
