RESOLUTION.

THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Masterton Racing Club at a meeting held on the 1st day of February, 1919, at Masterton, with a recommendation by the Chairman of the Club, Mr. C. F. Vallance, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by the Governor-General, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.

Mr. C. F. Vallance, the Chairman of the Club and the Meeting, moved, and Mr. D. K. Logan seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.

The following are the regulations referred to:—

MASTERTON RACING CLUB.

REGULATIONS.

(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)

In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Masterton Racing Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said club”), doth hereby revoke the regulations dated the 2nd day of June, 1917, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the Opaki Racecourse situated in the district of the Wellington, and known as the Masterton Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings:—

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.

  2. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely,—

(a.) Bookmakers.

(b.) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and bookmakers’ agents.

(c.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference.

(d.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or with persons who have no lawful visible means of support.

(e.) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of housebreaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908; and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908.

The foregoing regulations of the Masterton Racing Club were made and passed by the members of the Masterton Racing Club on the 1st day of February, 1919, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.

In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1908, and in the matter of the Counties Act, 1908.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Wairoa County Council proposes, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts, to execute a certain public work—namely, the formation and construction of a public road at Waihua; and for that purpose the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken. And notice is likewise given that a plan of the said lands is deposited at the office of the said Council in Queen Street, in the Borough of Wairoa, and is open for inspection (without fee) by all persons during ordinary office hours.

All persons affected are called upon to set forth in writing any well-grounded objections they may have to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said lands, and to send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the County Clerk at the Council Chambers, Wairoa.

SCHEDULE.

All those parcels of land, containing altogether 1 rood 20 perches, more or less, being parts of the Waihua Block, comprising six perches part of subdivision number 2c 1 of the said block, 23 perches part of subdivision number 2c 2 of the said block, and 31 perches part of subdivision number 2c 3 of the said block; all situated in Block XI of the Waihua Survey District, and coloured red on the said plan and on plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor at Napier under number 548, green.

RAGLAN COUNTY COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION STRIKING SPECIAL RATE OVER PUKEMIRO SPECIAL RATING DISTRICT AS SECURITY FOR LOAN OF £500.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Counties Act, 1908, the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and amendments thereto, the Raglan County Council hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of £500, authorized to be raised by the Raglan County Council, under the above-mentioned Acts, and with the consent of the Governor-General in Council, under section 26 of the Appropriation Act, 1915, as gazetted on page 3653 of the New Zealand Gazette, 1918, for the purpose of metalling portions of the Huntly to Pukemiro Road within the Pukemiro Special Rating District of the County of Raglan, the Raglan County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property in the Pukemiro Special Rating District of the said county.

The said special rating district is comprised of Sections 192, 119, 139, 140, 141, 142, 10, and part Section 24 (200 acres) of Blocks XIII, Rangiriri Survey District, and 1, Newcastle Survey District.

And that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on
