Authorizing the Laying-off of Sedgwick Road, in the Town of
Opotiki Extension No. 6, of a Width of not less than 66 ft.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon
me by section 15 of the Land Act, 1908, I hereby
authorize the laying-off of Sedgwick Road, in the Town of
Opotiki Extension No. 6, Auckland Land District, of a
width of not less than 66 ft. instead of 99 ft.

Amended Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Hairdressers' and
Tobacconists' Shops in the City of Wellington, under the
Shops and Offices Act, 1908.

WHEREAS a notice, pursuant to section 25 of the
Shops and Offices Act, 1908, was gazetted on the
18th day of July, 1918, directing that all shops in each of
the trades of (a) hairdresser and (b) tobacconist in the City
of Wellington be closed in the evening of working-days at
the hours specified therein:

And whereas, pursuant to section 41 of the War Legislation
and Statute Law Amendment Act, 1918, applications
by occupiers of hairdressers' and tobacconists' shops in the
City of Wellington who observe the weekly half-holiday on
Saturday have been forwarded to me, requesting that different
but equivalent hours of closing in the evening of working-days
of the week other than Saturday should be fixed by me for
all hairdressers' and tobacconists' shops in the City of Wel-
lington which close for the statutory half-holiday on that
day:

Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Acting Minister
of Labour, in pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by
the said section 41 of the War Legislation and Statute Law
Amendment Act, 1918, do hereby direct that on and after
the 24th day of February, 1919, all hairdressers' and to-
bacconists' shops in the City of Wellington which close for
the statutory half-holiday on Saturday shall be closed in
the evening of working-days as follows : On Mondays, Tues-
days, and Thursdays at 7 p.m., on Wednesdays at 10 p.m.,
and on Fridays at 9 p.m.

The notice gazetted the 18th day of July, 1918, is hereby
amended accordingly.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Butchers' Shops (other than
Pork-butchers' Shops) in the City of Wellington, under the
Shops and Offices Act, 1908.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority
of the occupiers of all the butchers' shops (other
than pork-butchers' shops) in the City of Wellington, has
been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the
city shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows:
Subject to the closing at not later than 1 p.m. on the day
observed as the statutory closing-day, on Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 5 p.m., with
the exception that on the working-day immediately preceding
Christmas Day and the working-day immediately preceding
New Year's Day the closing-hour shall be 9 p.m. :

And whereas the Wellington City Council has certified
that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority
of the occupiers of all the butchers' shops (other than pork-
butchers' shops) within the City of Wellington:

Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Acting Minister
of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices
Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 25th day
of February, 1919, all the butchers' shops (other than pork-
butchers' shops) in the City of Wellington shall be closed
accordingly.

Notice of Intention to take Additional Land in the Borough
of Palmerston North for the Extension of the Automatic
Telephone Exchange and the Storage of Telegraph Material.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to take
additional land described in the Schedule hereto for the
purposes of the extension of the Automatic Telephone Ex-
change and the storage of telegraph material. And notice
is hereby further given that the plan of the additional land
so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at
Palmerston North, and is there open for inspection; and
that all persons affected by the taking of the said land
should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the
taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send
such writing, within forty days from the first publication of
this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

THE piece of land required to be taken: Portion of Section 9,
Town of Palmerston North, having a frontage of 91 ft. to
Main Street East, and a depth of 165 ft.

Situated in the Borough of Palmerston North.

In the Wellington Land District; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 45587,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at
Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon
coloured red.

As witness my hand, at Wellington, this 19th day of
February, 1919.
