Thursday as the statutory closing-day in any week, then and
in such case the closing-hour on Thursday for any such shop
in that week shall be 7 p.m., and should such special day fall
on Saturday the closing-hour on Friday in that week shall be
9 p.m. :
And whereas the Howick Township Road Board has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority
of the occupiers of all the grocers' shops within the Howick
Township Road District:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Acting Minister
of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices
Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 20th day of
February, 1919, all the grocers' shops in the Howick Township
Road District shall be closed accordingly.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Fruiters' and Confectioners' Shops in the Waiuku Town District, under the Shops and
Offices Act, 1908.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority
of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the trades
of (1) fruiterer and (2) confectioner in the Waiuku Town District, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops
in the district shall be closed in the evening of working-days
as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays,
and Fridays at 11 p.m., and on Saturdays when there shall
be no fixed closing-hour, with the following exceptionsβ€”(1) the
working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and the
working-day immediately preceding New Year's Day, when
there shall be no fixed closing-hour ; (2) the working day immediately preceding each of the following days-Good Friday,
Easter Monday, Labour Day, the birthday of the reigning
Sovereign, and any day which, pursuant to a Proclamation
by the Governor-General or declaration by the Government, or on the request of the Mayor or Chairman of the local
authority, is generally observed as a public holiday or halfholiday, when there shall be no fixed closing-hour. The abovementioned closing-hours shall be subject to the closing at not
later than 1 p.m. on the day observed as the statutory closingday in the case of any fruiterer or confectioner who does not
exclusively carry on one or more of the businesses of fruiterer,
confectioner, florist, baker, and dairy-produce seller:
And whereas the Waiuku Town Board has certified that the
signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the trades of (1) fruiterer and
(2) confectioner within the Waiuku Town District:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Acting Minister
of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices
Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 20th day
of February, 1919, all the shops in each of the trades of
(1) fruiterer and (2) confectioner in the Waiuku Town District

with the following exceptions-(1) the working day immediately

preceding New Year's Day, when the closing-hour shall be

the following days-Good Friday, Easter Monday, Labour
Day, the birthday of the reigning Sovereign, and any other

be 11 p.m., and should such day fall on Saturday the closinghour on Friday shall be 11 p.m. :
And whereas the Waiuku Town Board has certified that
the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of
the occupiers of all the chemists' shops within the Waiuku
Town District:

NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to an application
in that behalf made to me by the New Zealand Freezingworks and Allied Trades Industrial Association of Workers,
registered number 820, situated at Wellington, and in exercise
of the powers conferred upon me by section 21 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1908, it is my intention
to cancel the registration of that industrial association, after
the expiration of six weeks from the date of the publication
of this notice in the Gazette, unless in the meantime cause is
shown to the contrary, for the purpose of reregistering the
said industrial association under the new name of the New
Zealand Freezing-works and Related Trades Industrial Association of Workers.
