of that road to a point in line with the northern boundary
of Section 150; thence to and along that boundary and the
northern boundaries of Sections 159, 176, and 185, and the
production of the last-mentioned to the middle of a road;
then south-westerly along the middle of that road to its
junction with a road along the northern boundary of Sec-
tion 171; thence south-easterly along the middle of that
road and south-westerly along the middle of a road along the
south-eastern boundaries of the said Sections 171 and 172,
and its production to the left bank of the Waikato River;
thence south-easterly along that bank to the south-eastern
boundary of a ballast reserve; thence south-westerly along

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Saddlers', Harness-makers',
and Cover-makers' Shops in the Borough of Oamaru, under
the Shops and Offices Act, 1908.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority
of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the trades
of (1) saddler, (2) harness-maker, and (3) cover-maker in
the Borough of Oamaru, has been forwarded to me, desiring
that all such shops in the borough shall be closed in the
evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays,
Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 5.30 p.m., with the
following exceptions—(1) when any day is generally observed
as a holiday in the district, any shop that is closed at not
later than 1 o'clock on that day and that is usually closed
for the statutory half-holiday on another day of the week
may remain open on the latter day until the hour fixed by
the notice for the day on which the holiday is observed;

(2) should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisi-
tion (pursuant to section 11 (2) of the Shops and Offices Act,
1908) observe Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then
and in such case the closing-hour on Thursday for any such
shop shall be 5.30 p.m.:

And whereas the Oamaru Borough Council has certified
that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority
of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the trades of
(1) saddler, (2) harness-maker, and (3) cover-maker within
the Borough of Oamaru:

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of
Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices
Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 15th day
of December, 1919, all the shops in each of the trades of
(1) saddler, (2) harness-maker, and (3) cover-maker in the
Borough of Oamaru shall be closed accordingly.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Grocers' Shops in the Borough
of Palmerston North, under the Shops and Offices Act, 1908.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority
of the occupiers of all the grocers' shops in the Borough
of Palmerston North, has been forwarded to me, desiring that
all such shops shall be closed in the evening of working-days
as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
at 5.30 p.m., and on Saturdays at 6 p.m., with the following
exceptions—(1) should the occupier of any shop affected by
this requisition observe, pursuant to section 11 (2) of the
Shops and Offices Act, 1908, Saturday as the statutory clos-
ing-day, then and in such case the closing-hour on Wednesday
shall be 5.30 p.m. and on Friday shall be 6 p.m.; (2) should
the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe,
pursuant to section 19 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908,
any of the days therein mentioned other than Wednesday
as the statutory closing-day in any week, then and in such
case the closing-hour on Wednesday in any such week shall
be 5.30 p.m., and if such day should fall on Saturday the
closing-hour on Friday in any such week shall be 6 p.m., and,
further, if such special day should fall on Friday the closing-
hour on Saturday for those shops that are usually closed for
the half-holiday on Saturday shall be 6 p.m.; (3) subject to
exception (5) hereof, the working-days (other than the days
observed as the statutory closing-day) in the period from the
20th day of December to the 30th day of December (both
days inclusive), when the closing-hour shall be 9 p.m.;
(4) Thursday and Friday of Spring Show week, when the
closing-hour shall be 9 p.m.; (5) the working-day immedi-
ately preceding Christmas Day and the working-day immedi-
ately preceding New Year's Day, when the closing-hour shall
be 10.30 p.m.:

And whereas the Palmerston North Borough Council has
certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a
majority of the occupiers of all the grocers' shops within the
Borough of Palmerston North:

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of
