Altering Boundaries of Rangitikei and Hawke's Bay Counties.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS it is provided by subsection two of section
three of the Counties Amendment Act, 1913, that
the boundaries of any one or more counties may be altered in
accordance with a resolution proposing the alteration passed
by the Council of each of such counties in which the principal
Act is in force :
And whereas a resolution was passed by the Rangitikei
County Council on the thirtieth day of October, one thousand
nine hundred and nineteen, and sealed with the seal of the
Council of the said county : And whereas a similar resolution
was passed by the Hawke's Bay County Council on the
thirteenth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and
nine-teen, and sealed with the seal of the Council of the said
county, praying for the inclusion in the Rangitikei County of
that part of the Hawke's Bay County described in the said
resolutions and in the First Schedule hereto : And whereas
it is expedient to make such alteration in accordance with
the said resolutions :
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority conferred on me by the said Act, I, Arthur William
de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare
that the area described in the First Schedule hereto, being
now part of the Hawke's Bay County, shall, on and from the
first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty,
be deemed to be added to and form part of the Rangitikei
County ; and, with the like power and authority, do proclaim
and declare that the boundaries of the Counties of Rangitikei
and Hawke's Bay respectively shall as from the aforesaid date
be those set forth under their respective headings in the
Second Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
AREA TO BE ADDED TO RANGITIKEI COUNTY.
ALL that area in the Hawke's Bay and Wellington Land
Districts bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station 30
on Aorangi ; thence proceeding south-easterly along a right
line in the direction of the junction of the north branch of
the Waipawa River with the Makarora River to the summit
of the Ruahine Range ; thence northerly along the summit
of that range to Trig. Station Y in Block XII, Pukeokahu
Survey District ; thence along a right line to a point in the
middle of the Taruarau River opposite the westernmost
corner of Block 78, Maraekakahu Crown-grant District ;
thence down the middle of the said Taruarau River to and
up the middle of the Ngaruroro River to its intersection with
a right line between Trig. Stations 65A and 26 (Tawhekete-
whango) ; thence westerly along the said right line to Trig.
Station 26 ; thence south-westerly along a right line in the
direction of Trig. Station 27 to its intersection with the
middle-line of the Rangitikei River ; thence down the middle
of that river to its intersection with a right line between Trig.
Stations 32 and 30 ; thence north-easterly along the said
right line to Trig. Station 30, the point of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
RANGITIKEI COUNTY.
ALL that area in the Wellington and Hawke's Bay Land
Districts bounded by a line commencing at the north-western
corner of Section 5, Block I, Maungakaretu Survey District ;
thence proceeding easterly along the northern boundary of
that section, across the Owhakura Road, along the northern
boundaries of Section 1, Block I, across Otara Road, and
along the northern boundaries of Sections 2, 3, and 4, Block I,
the northern boundaries of Sections 1, 2, 3, and 4, Block II,
to the Turakina River ; thence to and along the middle of
that river to and along the northern boundary of Section 3A,
Block II, Maungakaretu Survey District, the northern bound-
aries of Raketapauma Nos. 1A, 1G, and 1I Blocks to the
Waiouru-Moawhango Road ; thence to and along the
middle of that road to its junction with the Waiouru Road ;
thence along right lines passing through Totem, Auahitotara,
Te Rotete, Manukaiapu, Trig. Station 27, Trig. Station 26 ;
thence along a right line in the direction of Trig. Station 65A
to its intersection with the middle of the Ngaruroro River ;
thence down the middle of that river and up the middle of
the Taruarau River to a point opposite the westernmost
corner of Block 78, Maraekakahu Crown-grant District ;
thence along a right line to Trig. Station Y on the summit of
the Ruahine Range in Block XII, Pukeokahu Survey District ;
thence southerly along the summit of the said range to a
point due east of the source of the Kawhatau River ; thence
to and down the middle of the said river and of the Rangitikei
River to the sea ; thence north-westerly along the sea-coast
to the middle of the Wangaehu River ; thence up the middle
of the Wangaehu River to a point due west and distant
about eighteen chains from the western boundary of Block
XIV, Mangawhero Survey District ; thence south-easterly
along a right line through Okaiepe Trig. Station to the sum-
mit of the eastern watershed of the Wangaehu River ; thence
