LOWER OTAGO HARBOUR.—PILES PLACED DURING DREDGING OPERATIONS.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 29th November, 1919.

THE Otago Harbour Board have notified that during dredging operations in Deborah Bay, Lower Otago Harbour, six piles will be placed for the guidance of the dredge—three on the port side with white lights corresponding to the lights of the channel, and three on the starboard side with red lights corresponding to the red lights of the channel. This will leave a fairway of 540 ft. wide between the two sets of piles.

As the dredge progresses these piles will be shifted ahead accordingly, and when finished will be removed.

The lights will be extinguished on the two main beacons (one black and one red) in the immediate vicinity of that portion of the channel marked by the temporary piles.

Charts, &c., affected.—Admiralty Chart No. 2411; “New Zealand Pilot,” eighth edition, 1908, Chapter viii, page 253; “New Zealand Nautical Almanac,” 1919, plan facing page 360, or page 364 in the Almanac for 1920.
