WHANGAREI COUNTY COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.—MANGAKAHIA SPECIAL LOAN RATING AREA.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Whangarei County Council hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £26,000, authorized to be raised by the Whangarei County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of

(a.) Construction and metalling of roads within the Mangakahia Special Loan Rating Area: £21,563

(b.) Purchase of machinery (if needed): £3,000

(c.) Repayment of present Houto Loan (approx.): £1,437

the said Whangarei County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of three and one-fourth of a penny (3¼d.) in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property within the Mangakahia Special Loan Rating Area in the Maunu Riding, and comprising all the area within the following boundary-lines,—

Commencing at the south-west boundary corner of Section 2 where it touches the Wairua River in Block XVI, Mangakahia S.D.; then generally north following the course of the Wairua River to the north-east corner of Section 8, Block IX, Purua S.D.; then west along the north boundary-line of Section 8 to the block-line intersecting Block XII, Mangakahia S.D., and IX, Purua S.D.; then north along survey block-line to the south-east corner of Block VIII, Mangakahia S.D.; then due west along block-line intersecting Blocks VIII and XII, Mangakahia S.D., to the northern boundary of Section 4, Block XII; then north along the western boundary-line of Mangakahia K.G.R. Extension to its intersection with road-track in centre of Block VIII; then by a straight line drawn due west to intersection with the Hikurangi River at the north-west corner of Section 2, Block VII; then generally south and then west along the course of the said Hikurangi River to the south-east corner of Section 2 to the south-west corner of Block VII; then along the east and north-east boundary-line of Section 2 to the north point of Section 1; then south-west along the boundary of Section 1 to intersection with 8828 (2), Block VI; then generally north along the eastern boundary-line of 8828 (2) Mangapohatu North, 9565 Mimitu-Ruarei No. 21, and Nukutawhiti Block to a point on the said line one inch short of the northern boundary-line of Block I, Mangakahia S.D.; then by a straight line due west to intersection with Awarua River; then south to junction of Awarua and Mangakahia Rivers; then generally west and north along the Mangakahia River to the north boundary of Section 7 in Block XV, Punakitere S.D.; then generally north-west along the Mangaraupo Stream to its intersection with road at north-west corner of Section 3; then due south along the west boundary of Section 3 to intersection with Mangakahia River at north-east corner of Section 13A; then west and south along the western boundary-line of Survey Blocks III, VII, and XI, Tutamoe S.D., to the south-west corner of Section 12; then east along the southern boundary-line of Section 21 to the south of Section 13; then south-east along the south-west boundary of Sections 2 and 3 to south-eastern corner of Section 4; then north along the east boundary of Section 4 to the north-west corner of Section 9; then due east along the northern boundary of Sections 9 and 14 to the north-east corner of Section 10, Block XII; then north along the east boundary-line of Section 1 to the eastern boundary corner of Ruataewao (4484, red); then south along the western boundary-line of Sections 26 and 23 to the south-east corner of Section 22; then east along the southern boundary-lines of Sections 11, 2, 8A, Lot 1, Lot 2 (9), 10, to the south-east corner of Section 11; then south along the west boundary of Sections 1 and 2; then due east along the southern boundary of Sections 11, 10, 9, to the south-east boundary corner of Section 8 at intersection with Wairau River, being point of commencement.

And that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.—STEVEN’S SPECIAL RATING AREA.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Whangarei County Council hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £500, authorized to be raised by the Whangarei County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of forming, constructing, and metalling what is know as “Steven’s Road,” situated in the Maungatapere Parish in the Maunu Riding, the Whangarei County Council makes and levies a special rate of (1¾d.) one penny three-farthings in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property within the said special rating area, comprising all the area within the following boundary-lines,—

Commencing at the south-east boundary corner of Section 63, Mangatapere Parish; then north along the eastern boundary-line of the said Section 63 and Sections 64, 65, 66, to the north-east corner of Section 69 at junction with road; then north-west along the said road bounding Sections 69, 68, 67, and 3 to the north-west boundary corner of Section 3; then south along the boundary-line of the said Section 3 and part Allot. 1 to junction with road bounding north of Section M. 62; then west along road bounding the said Section M. 62 to the N.W. corner of Section W. 62; then south along the western boundary-line of and to the south-west corner of the said Section W. 62; then east along the southern boundary of Sections W. 62, M. 62, to the south-eastern boundary corner of Section 63, being point of commencement.

And that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Whangarei County Council hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £500, authorized to be raised by the Whangarei County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of constructing and metalling what is known as Hamilton’s Road, situated in the Otakairangi Parish, Wairua Riding, the Whangarei County Council makes and levies a special rate of one penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property within the special rating area in the Wairua Riding, comprising all the area within the following boundary-lines,—

Commencing at the south-western boundary corner of Section 10, Block I, Purua S.D.; then north along the western boundary of Sections 10 and 11 to the northern corner boundary of Section 14; then south along the eastern boundary-line of the said Section 14 and Section 13 to junction with Wairua River; then south and west along the course of the said river to the south-west boundary corner of Section 10, being the point of commencement.

And that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership heretofore subsisting between us, the undersigned, carrying on business as Customhouse, Shipping, and Forwarding Agents at Christchurch, under the style or firm of “The Empire Express Company,” has been dissolved as from the 31st day of March, 1919, so far as concerns the said CHRISTOPHER ROBERT SMITH, who retires from the said firm.

All debts due to and owing by the said late firm will be received and paid respectively by HECTOR MATHESON, FRANK WATERHOUSE, and FRANCIS GEOFFREY LEIGH, who will continue to carry on the said business in partnership under the style or firm of “The Empire Express Company.”
